A few years back Eddie was asked if his own kids experiencing similar hardships as him would actually be a good thing. The thinking being how much good came from Eddie’s own pain for not only himself but of course all us Gen X’ers via his music. His response was swift and emphatic: No. No, absolutely not. The steadfastness and resolve in his voice was so vulnerable and equally confident at the same time. If ever there was an example of how to be a man for your children this was it.

Damn! This is the most self-loathing thing I have ever seen. You do realize using statistics to demonize an entire group is an age-old tactic right. Alt-right uses the same logic you do to demonize Black people & Muslims.

I feel that to reach men you might need to be less verbose albeit a great listen.

I loved what you said about being “stuck at the age of our wounds.” I think that’s a really good starting point for men to begin increasing their emotional literacy.

These are powerful WORDS. But they won't change a thing though.

This obviously inspired you to rant about it.. Think of it this way.. It's not meant to solve a problem, it's meant to question the solution....

Ugh artists always create these idiotic poems and such that tell us something we know not to do and do anyway. You can't change human nature. If we (men) are taught violence, it isn't needed. Boys in every culture on earth behave in an aggressive manner from early childhood. It's part of how we think. Whining about problems you can't solve helps no one. Carlos seems to be in this for money possibly more recognition as an artist. poems don't change anything, actions do.

Much love to Carlos for creating such a timely and powerful call to action. A call to our brothers to stop the violence and start the conversations we need to have. Together. Let's Start Something. Join us.
