The paints that set at the bottom, especially the neon's and lava red, I find sitting them in a cup of warm water, helps get them moving. A long steel stirrer also helps, but it can take 10 minutes to get the paint to be ready to paint.

Tengo una duda maestro. Respecto a las pinturas usadas, el proceso que explicas también es aplicable a marcas como Vallejo? Con ellas sería necesario usar una imprimación primero o no haría falta? Muchas gracias por el vídeo tan explicativo!

I know in the 1/6th community people started marking low run customs but almost exact copies came out and it was later rumored that the same factory that makes the originals make the copies. You don’t get the fancy boxes and certificates but it is the same toy and the creator was making the money too. With Kaws I’ve seen some really good ones in small shops in tourist areas. Do you think it might be the same? Same factory making more with the same mold?
@artfabula19 күн бұрын
It could be. But then it is the factory that gets the money and not the artist. And the object loses its meaning.
@JTpopCULT19 күн бұрын
@ but with the 1/6th thing the company is called Redman and from what I’ve heard they work with the artist. Making a run of 20 made him say 20-30k. Rhe scandal is that the artist is working with them to make his own knockoffs so he can now sell the same product to the masses and make much more. In which case I’m happy for the artist too.

Can I recommend some Gary Vaynerchuk books to you. I can't stand when people tell others not to do something based on their failed experiences. Try harder and succeed and then do a video telling people to become a toy designer, that it was the best thing you ever did. I can appreciate the underlying message, but it's disingenuous when it's said directly after don't become an art toy designer.

The message was: don’t make it for the money. I don’t see any problem with that. And please, Gary???

HI there! Your video is incredibly inspiring!! After watching it, I finally decided to create my first art toy that it was in my mind for many years too. It has taken me a long time to find the right factory to produce it. I have contacted some of them, but the price differences are significant. Could I ask which company you used? Thanks

Great advices for those who are starting out or are interested in the field. I got lucky to have started a company after making the Dumpster Fire art toy for a client back in 2018. From then on I just kept getting more and more work, hard work but it's fun though. I think the key is to start small and test out your designs to see how its received by the general audience. Based on how well it does, you can either go big or design a new one and keep testing it out. Good luck to all who are starting out!

I currently have a bambu lab printer and im printing out my parts but its not efficient for mass production. I'm working on printing my prototypes and making multiple moldes out of them so I can pour resin at a faster rate. Ive been looking into the vinyl process, I want that real toy look and feel.

You talk about resin printers, but what about standard pla/abs printers? There are no cons as far as fumes and brittleness.
@artfabula3 ай бұрын
It could work, but you will never get the same results with a pla/abs printer as with a resin one. At least not for toys.
@Rynours773 ай бұрын
@artfabula Do you mean with the detail? Because I get pretty good detail with mine. I use a smaller nozzle and, while not quite as good as a resin printer might produce, it still produces good detail with thinner layers.
