Did Babe actually say "I'm going to hit the next pitch over the center field wall"? No he did not. But he sure implied it as only Babe Ruth could.. 2 strikes, points to center with 2 fingers. Hits it outta the park. Works for me.

Gale was one of the best! Who does that with a dismal team record yet lead the league in rushing! But the symbolism was far more important, black and white we need to come together and be like Gale and Pic!

And now Pippen comes out publicly and said it was a "racial move" by Phil Jackson to draw up the play for Toni Kukoc...

I found a video called "Basketball Drive" in which the host, who didn't identify himself, said Pippen "suggested" Phil's decision "was motivated by racism". It was followed by reaction from Shaquille O'Neal, who said, "Phil was not a racist". The only sound bite from Pippen had him saying "he felt disrespected by Phil." If you can find the direct quote of Pippen accusing Phil of racism, please pass it along.

When you are legend and named Babe Ruth, it doesn't matter, everything he did was bigger than life.

Actually, this is what Lou Gehrig said and it’s a direct interview with him: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJnEnoCaoNCnfLMfeature=shared , so Gehrig was right there on deck, closer than Grimm, and confirmed Ruth’s account.

When facts contradict the legend, print the legend. To millions of baseball fans, Ruth called his shot, and no one will convince us otherwise!

They once asked the great Dizzy Dean the hardest ball ever hit off him, he said Mize hit a line drive between his legs and the centerfielder caught it on a fly😅

He didn't play a down in preseason. Rooney Jr. said on film that his brother sent a letter to his dad saying this was the best QB in camp. Johnny U "didnt show much" is CYA. Joe Ryan of Maryland at the time

I was 9 years old at the time. I remember being bummed out that the second game was canceled. I was really into baseball as a kid but when I learned the reason for the cancellation of the game, I gotta admit, I thought it was cool. I was raised to hate disco by my two older brothers. "Goodbye, Sister Disco" was a song regularly spun by my older brother who had the Who Are You record. My older sister was into disco because she was always into fads but we never paid her much attention.

Pippen had his best year ever that season. This type of behavior kind of reminds me of an NFL game where Steve Young flipped out on George Seifert. There were years of resentment behind it, but luckily the team put it behind them.

Jim Finks the “Worst Scout ever"?. List of Hall of famers scouted and drafted by Jim Finks (he was the greatest talent evaluator in NFL history: Walter Payton, Mike Singletary, Dan Hampton, Jimbo Covert, Richard Dent, Steve McMichael, Alan Page, Paul Krause, Carl Eller, Ron Yary, Mick Tinglehoff, Bud Grant, Wille Roaf, Sam Mills, Ricky Jackson, Morton Anderson

I had the priviledge of covering scores of outstanding people during my broadcasting career, but no one impressed me more than Jim Finks. He had a special presence about him. I never heard anyone speak ill of him. He had a nice way of getting his point across. I heard him take issue with a columnist that wrote something Finks didn't like. He simply told him that "he was disappointed that you would write that." He also made it known that he didn't like some of my commentary during an 8-game losing streak. He said, "Brad, you're not a 'homer', are you?" I told him I was a 'homer' in that I wanted the Bears to do well, but I'm not a 'house' man." I think Jim respected that. (I was the color/commentator on the Bears' radio broadcasts from 1977-1984. The Bears moved from WBBM to WGN in 1985, a year after Jim Finks resigned from the Bears rather than work for Michael McCaskey.)

Jim Finks was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995 after a 30-year stellar career as the President and GM /architect/scout/talent evaluator of the Purple People Eater/Bud Grant Vikings era, the 1985 Bears team (we know how great they were), and the Saints (Jim Mora era). During his 7 years with the Saints, they made the playoffs for the first time in their history numerous times and they won more games in that 7 year span with the exception of the 49ers. He was selected by the NFL owners selection committee to be the next the NFL commissioner after Rozelle retired, but because of 10 bone head new NFL owners at the time in 1989 (Jerry Jones, Debartalo, and others) , it did not happen. And he was a very very good QB with the Steelers who at that time had very very mediocre defenses. Paul Brown said Jim Finks is a great QB and if I didn't have Otto Graham as my QB, I would love to have him on my team. Jims Finks told the exact truth as to why Johnny U was cut. If he wasn’t, he would have been Jim Finks’ backup.
