I am in Ohio and looking to move before my daughter begins her next school year. I have been looking into Mexico bordering cities because I definitely want to be able to visit there often. I love Mexico. I think I am going to have to call you! This is enticing.

This guy has never been here! Even the pictures are wrong. I've lived in the RGV for 25 years! LOVE IT! Those of you with negative opinions - move somewhere else, after all they say "the grass is always greener.....!" I love the culture, the people are very family oriented. Most polite people on earth and once you make a friend - you always have that friend. And oh what food! The Rio Grande Valley - Texas without prejudice. I've lived many places in my days ... but the 956 is HOME SWEET HOME TO ME! The one thing I would change is that only a few companies control all the new car dealerships. I know that that is the national trend but I'd rather have more locally owned dealerships and less "dale gas". Car shopping is the only thing I do outside the valley.

I worked in McAllen for 2 years coming from Miami and I'm wondering who can afford this neighborhood when most of the jobs there offer piss poor pay. This must be for people that are moving there WITH money already because the job market is pretty weak.

Just moved from California and bought my house brand new and cheaper. There's nothing like Texas!!!

McAllen is ideal for retired couples. I would not recommend it for young professionals. I moved from the Washington, DC Metro area to Tres Lagos and my wife and I are very happy here. However, we are seriously considering moving to San Marcos to be closer to a more dynamic cities like Austin and San Antonio because is somewhat boring here.

Beautiful homes but the weather is no go for me.

I’m assuming this video was made to sell property at Tres Lagos. Because aside of the video shots of that area there is no other images of the RGV. So it makes it look like McAllen is in a very California type of situation with vast rural farming area and dotted by suburbs. But That’s not the case. McAllen is a very urban arena with almost no farming being doing around. McAllen is part of the urbanization beltway that runs east and west on Expressway 83. The city is part of a four county region. Two counties which are very rural. And two counties have seen urban sprawl. McAllen is expensive property wise compared to other cities. So. Buyer beware.

I live in the RGV. None of these photos and videos are from McAllen or the RGV. Low employment opportunities. Nothing fun for children, traffic is getting insane there around McAllen Edinburgh area, nice homes with no soul, no f’ing trees anywhere! Lots of corruption.

I'm from southern California and just got out of the Army, as well just got back from being deployed overseas for two years. I currently live in Fort Worth but have my eye on the RGV, especially McAllen. I of course moved away from California for ALL the reasons one should. And I vow to not bring that mindset here lol. I'm currently looking for federal jobs in McAllen, although I don't really have to work anymore. I also plan to use my G.I. Bill and Hazlewood Act of TX to continue school at the university. I love to travel. so it's great that there is an int'l airport down there. I of course plan to use my VA home loan to buy a house. I cannot believe the low prices of the great houses down there. It almost seems too good to be true. I refuse to pay those San Diego prices ever again! I'm 37 and single, never been married and only one child who is almost grown, and would like for her to go to college somewhere that isn't too wild, when she moves to TX. I kind of wish there were was a little bit more black people in the area; but being from souther Cali and a veteran, I am totally fine with any culture and creed. It's just good to see a similar shade sometime to share cultural similarities with, no matter who you are.. I have now realized that I've made a dating app profile in these comments.
