I do have to say that for me Ian's social game is way too reliant on what cast he gets in any given season. BB14 he was blessed with Britney and Dan who took him under their social wing, without that his social game becomes really lacking, see BB22 (we can argue that the pregaming shut Ian out, but we had Memphis a last minute addition who strongarmed his way into an alliance that didn't even want him in the first place, and Ian? did nothing to make any relationships besides the pregame/winners one with Nicole). So I actually do think there's a point to be made that Jed's social game is just that much better than Ian's. I just think that in most seasons, Ian will have trouble connecting with the rest of the house, unfortunately.

Nicole Anthony didn't actually believe Jackson's lie about Tommy, when he said "Own it" she realized it was a tell and that Brett had done the same thing during Rockstar's Daughter's Birthday. They voted out Tommy because Holly agreed to throw final four HOH and they thought he was a bigger threat.

My personal conspiracy theory is that Neil was a plant by CBS to give Joshua an initial match, and was always meant to be removed because at the time they were very unwilling to cast more than one gay person (especially 2 gay men) on the show. I don't know what fan reactions were to Dustin and Joe on season 8, but given how america voted often for Eric to protect Dick, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a lot of backlash for casting to queer men. It just seemed like they were too prepared to put Sharon back in the game. This isn't backed by anything, it's just my personal read on the situation.

It’s really interesting to listen in on the early seasons players because as for me being a none American I’m from Norway and i didn’t watch back then. I started with season 8 in 2007 by accident when searching for movies on the famous piratebay and been watching ever since 😊

I think you're selling Memphis short. Considering he had no pregame in BB22, he somehow was successful in strongarming into the main big alliance despite no one in the alliance actually likes or cares about him or had a pregame relationship with. That was really impressive, compare that with Keisha the other last minute replacement.He also held his own and didn't nominate Kaysar or Janelle (as he was not a target for them) and was able to do what he wanted yet he remains in the alliance. He was able to take Christmas off Tyler's hands as an ally, I mean if Enzo had any self interest to win the game, and didn't have such a close pregame relationship with Cody, Memphis would have succeeded in taking Enzo off Cody's hands as well. And he was able to do this gaming for about 20 mins in the morning every day and then sleeping for the rest of the game, AND no one (besides christmas) even likes him in the house. I don't think I agree with Memphis on a plethora of things in real life, but he was indeed the second best player of BB22, and had the comps fallen another way in the final stretch, we could have been talking about Memphis being the winner of AS2. I honestly thought he played surprisingly well in that season.

So excited! A day one BB watcher. I’ve not gone back for any rewatch so excited to look back. Yes a long journey ahead.

33:49 I don’t have a lot of my own true memories from early BB seasons, because I watched them live with my parents as a kid (I was 9 when BB4 aired), but one of the few that has always stuck with me was Jun and Alison realizing they needed to align with each other if they wanted a chance to win. I remember the unexpectedness of their alliance because they openly disliked each other, but that also meant no one in the house would suspect it either. Ugh, so good!

Will and Karen were together pulling numbers to go against the horsemen from pretty early on, and both of them had numbers backing them. Though Karen was in a better spot, Will kinda gets screwed by the social climate at the time. Jase, Scott, and the twins were all pretty openly homophobic, and Will is able to have good relationships with those players despite that. Of course, he lets the twins slip once they both enter the house, but also when you consider that the twins nominated him specifically for homophobic reasons, I think it balances out. Would be a very strong player in a modern cast.

*GOD* told her to nominate the gay guy and the black guy. Adria was unhinged, and when Natalie joined the game, they got dual HofH-itis. Hot Take: Lawon is the better player even if we don't factor in iconicness. Prior to him doing what he did, he was in a pretty good spot going into final 9. He was in with the newbies, the vets weren't going to deal with him any time soon, and there were a couple of people he probably beats at the end. His social game was solid. Indy on the other hand was basically just waiting to be picked off.

I've never rewatched BB22, so I don't really remember it very well, but does anybody remember why Nicole F was included into the Committee alliance and why Ian wasn't included? It just seems so strange to me that with a cast that has 2 former winners, you would include 1 former winner in the majority alliance and not the other. =/

Ultimately he improved his placement, and iirc he was much better at comps in 22. And then Da’vonne. She got her farthest placement, and she won her first comp. She was one of the last people to root for, and she won AFP, making her the first black woman to win the prize. (If not the first black player?) Then you mentioned David, and I’m on the fence. I think he showed so much potential in 21 while he was in Camp Comeback, but then he didn’t prepare at all between 21 and 22. Although he did win the dark room comp that he’d lost the year before. And I was only somewhat ironically rooting for him his last few weeks in the game, despite how bad he was.

Cliff foolishly believed that Michie would keep his word about evicting Holly at final 4 because they shook hands on it.
