breathtakingly beautiful video. Especially in these times when so much is going on in the world, it is so beautiful to see how people from all over the world can have the same goal and be so friendly with each other. We really enjoyed...

My Spanish 3 students are learning about El Camino and they absolutely loved this video. The overwhelming question was, "Did he ever speak to/see Amelie again??" Many have said it already, but you do a great job telling the story of your travels and transformation. Must watch some of your other treks!

Walked all Galicia in 2022 (165km). A piece of advice on blisters.,.. please, do not that, don´t burst them or use a thread. Learned the bad way with a black and infected toe. Before starting the camino, buy "Compee" in a drugstore, that painlessly dry the blister, and also, buy Alcohol de Romero to massage your legs before going to bed. Beautiful video, brought memories and tears. I hope to go back soon. But this time, doing it completely. Thanks for sharing!

I'm an old, former Outward Bound instructor and just saw this video. I have a cold feet tip if you're not already on to it by now. Make a hot water bottle with a Nalgene bottle, and put it in an extra sacred sock (those kept only and always in the sleeping bag). Changed my life on Alaskan courses. Very fun video. Keep it going.

Bring different types of socks and change those bad boys two or three times a day. The one time I decided to just keep walking (the final hour) and not change my socks 🧦, I ended up losing a toenail! (A year later, it’s grown back)! 😂

How did you get the map to populate from a Notion database? Or is it a separate map you keep up to date?
@HankLeukart4 ай бұрын
I coded my own PHP scripts running on my web server which use the Notion API to grab the Trips database data and then generate the code and data for the map, using the Google Maps API. Then, I just embed the map webpage from my site in the Notion page (you can see the map at hank.me/trips/). It's not hard if you are used to coding web scripts, but otherwise, I have been considering creating a free web service that does this for people without having to write code -- but I haven't done much investigation yet in figuring out how to do it seamlessly.
@rachelvsroad4 ай бұрын
@@HankLeukart Interesting! At one point I tried to rig something up via Google Sheets and an AppsScript script that would read from Notion but never quite got it to do what I wanted. Maybe I'll need to try it again

Loved this video. Checked out Notion but seems like a tough sled for someone starting from Zero. Do you have any templates or can you recommend any templates so I am not starting with a blank slate? I've hiked the AT, Colorado Trail, Camino, Coast to Coast and have more planned. Everything you described in this video would be super helpful, from planning to sharing.

Wow, so jealous of your trips!! How did you like the Colorado Trail? I'm going to supply a template link shortly. It's a little tricky for me to duplicate all my databases and clean them up so they work for other people without being a mess, but I'm working on it.

I recently read the novel "The Trail" by Ethan Gallogly and it is about a young man who hikes the john Muir Trail with his deceased father's best friend. He learns a lot about himself on the 21 day hike and they visited every place you did in your documentary. You brought that story to life. Thank you. It inspires me to get out there more and spend time in nature.
