@@JB._.Uzumaki to be honest I am not a tone wood / pickup tone believer. They vary slightly in tone, more in output. But if you think about it, both tone and output can be controlled by an eq pedal. Which I absolutely used to cut A LOT of low end :)

"Yngwie-killer solo" lol Yngwie has perfect musical language, Uli is a god but he sometimes does untasteful notes, theres a lot of weird sounding things in this solo that are incorrect in terms of classical music rules, Yngwie never makes those mistakes Uli Jon Roth is god tho, dont misunderstand me
@MagyHimself
@MagyHimself 3 күн бұрын
It's an Yngwie killer solo because this, as opposed to Yngwie solos, is not easy to play. You're saying "a lot of weird sounding things". Such as? If you want to get into the topic, neither Yngwie nor Uli play classical music, they play baroque (and Uli plays even more than that). Does Stravinsky obey classical music rules? Yngwie is below mediocre when it comes to composing baroque. He is just a rock guitarist trying to sound baroque. Sure he changed the electric guitar, but any even remotely serious baroque player would laugh at Yngwie's attempts. He really isn't a "classical" music god. Just a very good and innovating electric guitar player.

@@MagyHimselfyou got it all mixed up don't u think? xD 1. Such as? You can't tell? Yet you speak with such prepotency. Uli is great but he has a tendency of doing stuff like 0:12 completely out of the blue no logical sense chromatic or 0:18 a lot of blurred notes because he can't sweep fast in a clean manner, stuff like those are UJR characteristics 2. You're talking about baroque, and mentioning Stravinsky out of nowhere...(?) lol Stravinsky was a serialist, he never (not even during his early neoclassical years) sounded baroque (at least not properly not enjoyably) and let's face it no one listens to Stravinsky and be like "oh that was nice" it's pretty shitty, genius in terms of limits exploration maybe, but it sounds like shit. Why? Because he didn't follow the rules 🤣 citing Stravinsky is just pretentious, it's like saying "postmodern jazz is the pinnacle of music" lol 3. Depending on what you developed one or another guitar player will be harder to cover, Yngwie is not easy by any means 🤣 something like Far Beyond the Sun shits on UJR, Uli isn't easy either OBVIOUSLY. But this solo is far easier than 90% of Malmsteen solos, it's sloppy even, a lot of blurred notes, Yngwie plays each and every single note in a clear articulate purposeful manner
@MagyHimself
@MagyHimself 2 күн бұрын
@@frankiebq5604 1. And Yngwie doesn't play chromatic bs? Yngwie quotes directly from Uli, the very chromatic lick from Virgin Killer (On The Run Again). He even frequently plays descending chromatic notes all the way from the high E string to the low E string in a more "masturbating" and nonsense way than Uli does. Also, Uli double tracked this solo and not only. Yngwie rarely does that and when he does it, it sounds like shit (phrygian dominant section of Black Star, full of descending mumbled notes). Yngwie also has a ton of album material which is sloppy af. Odyssey coming to mind first. Half of those solos you can't tell the notes when slowed down. Yngwie's timing is also 0. He doesn't play on time. Which is his trademark and sounds very good, that is the very essence of his phrasing. But it is way easier to squeeze fast notes than to play consecutive different note groupings on time. 2. I used Stravinsky as an example of music that doesn't respect rules and is still valuable. Saying that nobody likes Stravinsky because of lack of musicality because you don't like him is egotistic. Indeed, I don't listen to him for musical phrases, but that doesn't make his creation any less valuable. It is an aquired taste. Just like Holdsworth. I am sure you will say that I'm straying away from baroque. But that is not my point. I want to say that using weird musical non-melodic phrases shouldn't decrease the value of any song in any way. Imo Uli's ascending chromatic lick builds suspense and fits the solo. Bach uses chromaticism tastefully in the Musical Offering. 3. I agree with the first part, but not with the last. Yngwie does not play 40% of his notes in an articulate and much less purposeful manner. He doesn't even think in notes, but in licks and patterns. He rarely actually plays melodic phrases which actually follow the chord tones.
@frankiebq5604
@frankiebq5604 Күн бұрын
@@MagyHimself effectively Yngwie doesn't play chromatic bullshit, he doesn't lol, do you know what chromatic is? It's not every note in the scale, it's every note, he doesn't plays notes out of the scale unless he's borrowing the major 6th or the major 7th like in classical music Also we never mentioned playing pertinent notes to chords, as long as it's in the scale it's not stupid, Yngwie is on scale always, Uli isn't It doesn't matter if Yngwie thinks or doesn't think in notes, we weren't talking about it, Yngwie doesn't blur out notes like Uli, Yngwie is articulate at all times 🤣
@frankiebq5604
@frankiebq5604 Күн бұрын
@@MagyHimself also using weird shit doesn't decrease the value of it just because, it does when it SOUNDS BAD, Holdsworth sounds very good and alien, here we're talking about sloppy playing (you can't talk about sloppy Yngwie if you like Uli, common have some blood in the face 🤣) and horrible sounding chromatic shit like Uli did in this solo. It's not an Yngwie killer, ask anyone that's not an UJR fanboy and they will 100% of the times pick Malmsteen
