That PCV Valve hose plugs in the bottom of the throttle body not the intake manifold. My ranger was running like shit. I cleaned my throttle body and didn't plug that hose back up under that throttle body like an idiot 😂. Thanks to this video it solved my problem. Thanks bruh. 🖤✊🏾

The first sensor (upstream) is close to the exhaust manifold outlet and before the catalytic converter. The second O2 sensor (downstream) is after the catalytic converter and toward the tail pipe. You have these backward in your video. Exhaust starts in the engine, moves through the exhaust manifold, into the exhaust pipe, then catalytic converter and on to the muffler and tailpipe.

Does the pcv valve make some sort of “click” or audible feedback that lets you know it’s set? Or do you simply just slide it in and push down on it a little? Thanks
@FelixElGato007
@FelixElGato007 4 жыл бұрын
When you pull out the old PCV it should make a clicking or rattling noise, but if it doesn't it's time for a replacement. Also, you want to make sure that the hose is not ripped or cracked because it could lead to vacuum leaks. When replacing it, you should feel it set in place. Make sure you double check.

Kevin Parrish, Took me a while to even see it. Put your hand under the intake and search. It’s sitting straight up on a horizontal surface. Pull it straight up. When you go to put the new one in (you already put it on the hose), stand in front of the truck and get your chest on top and look down thru the intake slot and you can just make out the hole it goes in. Be careful putting on other end of hose, so you don’t pull PCV valve out. Good luck...

If anyone is doing this, you MUST use an OEM PCV valve. That statement applies to replacing any car's PCV valve. The difference in engineering spec could be the difference between blowing a head gasket or not. The cost difference is about $3-$4.

if both these are bad whats could be the symptoms. im having a rough idle in my 2.5 ranger :)
@FelixElGato007
@FelixElGato007 5 жыл бұрын
If your engine is running rough, it could be a vacuum leak, bad fuel injectors, spark plugs, o2 sensors, and etc. If I were you, I'd try to go with the easy stuff first vacuum leaks is probably the easiest. Also, check for any codes if you have any. For fuel injector cleaning try a can of seafoam or some Marvel Mystery oil and pour some inside the gas tank, see if it helps. (:

@@FelixElGato007 my code reader said bank 1 and bank 2 solenoids are bad, plus a couple other codes. ill probably replace sensors first and go from there, thx for the response and video man
@FelixElGato007
@FelixElGato007 5 жыл бұрын
@@hunteralan2165 Sorry, I thought you were talking about my other video. If these are bad, your car or truck can indicate lean or rich fuel mixture, either the voltages could be high or low, depending on the code. Both solendoids are bad you say, I would check the voltages on both sensors. You would need to replace them. That could be the cause for your rough idle.

Dude don't take off the whole hose, just pull out the PCV valve from its socket and connect the new PCV valve to the hose and put it back into the socket!.That's what I do on my 1996 Mazda B2300 and I do it in about 5 minutes, same engine and trany as a 1996-97 Ford Ranger.

If there isn't buildup like sludge it will be fine other than that if there is buildup chances like the hose will be clogged as well mostly around the the top Vaccum line going into the intake on these engines.

I think it would be a lot easier it you take the intake manifold off, saves a lot of pain !.The intake manifold is very easy to take off and you will see all parts very clearly and reach then with ease.I take it off my 1996 Mazda B2300 every time I am cleaning the throttle body, IAC and EGR.

It is a whole lot easier, but there's more to put back together and a bit more time consuming. I found the location of the hose and valve when I disassembled the intake manifold and the throttle body. If I ever have to change this valve again, I'll make a video about it.
