I used to own and live in the brown house across street.

It does look superb and something that I may well be building in the next few weeks, as I'm searching for an idea for a permanent and natural looking water feature for the aviary that I'm up grading.. How is it with algae after a few months?

I get a little on the base pebbles but nothing in the base tank since its covered by rocks and liner. Way less problems and maintenance than my other two koi ponds

A making of the build video would have gone a long way, great job though.

What a good idea! I want to make one like this in the future. Have you considered adding astto turf / artificial grass to some areas inside the aviary? It really brightens it up, looks natural, and is easy to hose down to clean.

Astro turf sounds like a good idea. I never would have thought of thst. I do use it in a very large cage that i have some other birds in. Thanks

Hi Stan. Nice one! Can you share a basic schematic of how to proceed?

Used a round 35 gallon pre-molded liner as the basin and dug a hole to put it in. Put the pump inside wrapped in filter cloth, Put hardware cloth over the top with screws along the edge of the mold. Next built the river with cement blocks covered with carpet and then pond liner, going up on the sides so to contain any spilling and covered with rocks. I had the liner go on top of the hardware cloth in the middle part so the birds could bathe and I can clean easier and open on the sides. The hose for the pump goes along the side and i have a waterfall at the top. I take the rocks off the basin and unscrew harsdware cloth to clean out the filter once every few months. It was pretty easy and works much better than the pond I had inside aviary before
