Thanks! Just ended up with the same solution: soldered a 470 Ohm resistor between driver contacts and modified a tail switch light little bit, by re-soldering orange LEDs to a warm-white ones, using a 47k resistors for each. Not so bright though, but anyway my flashlight could be clearly seen in the dark. So I am happy with it! I have a Convoy S2+ with 12-group mode Biscotti driver, paired with Nichia 219b 3500K. How long before it begins to step down and what setting can you pretty much leave it on without overheating and worry about it stepping down. I've been waiting on a reasonably priced light that has a forward facing light and a side light that doesn't use cob ED'S. Nothing against Bob's I've just seen too many of them were half or a third stop working and can't be repaired. Thanks for the video. Looks like your starting out like I did years ago when Imalent first came out and came out with their DN70 and DN35 which version 1 had some small and I mean small issues and the flashlight world really sounded them. They corrected those issues and to this day it's still have both of my samples and use them. Their are what.. like 8 maybe even 9 years old now. I stuck with Imalent and their 16 thousand lumen DT70 hit the market then the flashlight community went completely nuts. That was unheard of at that time, but they pulled it off. Still only me and one or 2 others were reviewing their lights then the set the bar no one could touch at the time with the DX80 at 32 thousand lumen givecor take no one could touch it and the luman war was on. So was the review war. The stayed with me through the MS12 with the latest model has an output of 65 thousand lumen give or take. My best measurement is closer to 56 to 58 and drops pretty fast. After that everyone wanted those new samples and had thousand in camera gear. They probably spent as much money as the light cost. My review was shown as really world use with a couple of scenes showing off the output and distance. That was the last sample I received. Lmao I was offered to purchase any of them at cost which I could do anyway with my business license. I was even told we will get this or that out to you. 2 years and nothing has show up but parts and broken lights that they apparently assumed I could repair and either send to China or back to Amazon or the customer. Ever tried to get into any of their high end high output lights. It's pretty much impossible. They even told me they hace a device using some type of hydraulics to unscrew the bezel which is where 90 percent of the problems were. I'm guessing bad reflow but I couldn't fix it without this device they use and they refused to send me one or even send me a photo of one so I could try to make something similar. Needless to say that ended my flashlight reviewing. Many went out of business like Thorfire. We had a great relationship. They even sent me 10 of the TG06 which was small but very bright for it's size and perfect for people like me a industrial mechanic. Sorry for the massive post. I just hope you continue to have better luck in the long run than I did. I follow you and you seem to do a great job. Pop over to my channel when time permits. I still have a lot of their and other ligh reviews. Some even like you comparing lights. I hope you have a great Christmas and New year. Be sure to stay safe. Terry Whire

Hey mate merry Christmas and happy new year, on turbo mode it steps down instantly although it's heavy the thermal mass is spread out between 3 sets of LEDs. The best mode would probably be medium mode it should be able to sustain that output for a while I personally use a headlamp when working on just about anything, if it didn't look weird I would wear one every night lol. I have to read your comments when I get on my PC Its hard to read long comments. To me Imalent was an okay brand nothing special but they did make some cool lights I had a few issues with Imalent lights the only one that I would rate is the HR20 if it's called that, it's the headlamp model. Most reviews are not worth the time and effort it takes to do them any more. I like building different setup and testing them, I said yes to this review as I use the IF23 somewhat regularly if a light is unique or good value I will review it. Speciality light don't interest me to much I like the BLF cheap and good or DIY and push the limits. Interesting video and find! What is the amp draw for each setting and the lux at 1 meter? Is it constant current? I need to know this, else I won't know if it is practical for my work and at home working. I think this is also true for everyone who uses their headlamps to do productivity tasks. The lpw, the current, the lux, the draw curve matter most. The balance of a headlamp and form factor will allow me to use some otherwise *meh/yawn" lights. The over lumens and color rendering of the reds to the blues does play a factor, but is lesser variable for accomplish the task, which is why 70 cri and 6500 Kelvin out sells. I prefer 5390 Kelvin, in my double blind tests among 100 flashlights, which makes sense, since 4000 kelvin is the absolute yellow most tolerable temperature and 6500 is the blue most, while 5250 is smack in the middle. Now, I have not found pure flood very useful for color inspection, and any other task besides jogging, folding clothes, unless the lux is at least 2000 at 1 meter, when ghosts become visible when painting. Throw is better for skips and brushing, since you need the focus and spot. Color perception is intensity + cri + Gamut Area Index (GAI). This means that a lower efficiency high cri light might offer less color discernment in the real world.

Thank you very much for your detailed review! At 15:29 you mention Osram LEDs. I don't really understand. Does the Natfire HS50 have some kind of Osrams? You don't mention this in the section where you compare the "G2 LED". Sofirn HS25S with "Dual SST40" should be Luminus SST40-LEDs? Thank you for all the lumen measurements: 1079 lm peak and 614 lm at 30s. Do you know anything about the lumens after a longer time? Like after 10 minutes? In your video about Wurkkos HD10 I saw you measured colour temperature at around 4000K. Do you have measurements for the Natfire? Now after some months of usage: Do you still like it and still use it? Or do you prefer other headlamps? Sorry for the many questions and thank you very much for your video. It's the only detailed review I found in the internet. So double thanks! 🙂

Hey yea i can't tell what LED is in the light as it looks like a SST-40 but it could be a clone, Yea the Sofirn HS25 has the dual Luminus SST-40. The HS50 is a good light but I have so many headlamps its hard to wear them all, I used it when I was doing an oil change and a few nights when I setup my shortwave radio antenna at a park its good but not outstanding I used to use the Nitecore HC30 as my go to headlamp and these two are similar but the Natfire is much cheaper. The LED in the Natfire HS50 is a cold white LED not the worse its about 6000k, the LED is on the green side which is common with Luminus LEDs so that makes me think it could be a SST-40. As for longer runtimes I don't test that long as its very temperamental it depends on a lot of variables, here in Australia it can be 25+ degree celsius wth high humidity when I am testing (even at night). For me to do proper testing I would need to get a setup I can control the temp in. Plus you have things like battery capacity and even the resistance of the battery can effect the runtimes at longer times. If you want a solid choice maybe go for the H25L/ H25LR that is my usual go to headlamp they have a bit more mass that should help with cooling. Its a similar price and is high CRI, I am not the biggest fan of the Samsung LH351D but it works well. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_EvIYAeZ

@@everydaysurvivalgear Thank you very much for your answer! It's totally understandable that you don't want to make these long lumen measurments. I looked into how to measure lumens (which means: I googled how to do it) and it's really not that easy to do. So thanks for all the effort that goes into these videos! I feel like the LED could also be one of the clones of Cree XM-L. That would also make it somewhat comparable to a nine year old Nitecore HC30 that had a Cree XM-L2 according to Nitecore's website. I believe Nitecore used the real Cree LED. :-D But I agree with you that it could also be a SST40 (clone?). Looks similar in the comparison. You compare it to the beamshots of Sofirn H25S with SST40 6500K. The cold white SST40 6500K look warm white compared to the Natfire HS50 (at least to my eyes). So I guess the Natfire is more like 7500K to 9000K? For me personally the grass and wall looks really blue. I guess this light is not for me. Wurkkos HD10 from your other video looks very interesting because it is very small and lightweight - yet so powerful. Thanks for posting this review (nearly six years ago! It is now Aug 2024). I found your review interesting, a real niche find. I have two of these that I too bought from Bunnings years ago. I don't recall what I paid, but they were a clearance item and your quote of $4 sounds about right. The value for money was amazing. I am not a techie, but found your info interesting and I now know the CREE XPG2 LED has a good reputation in the industry, so no wonder the light is bloody amazing, it is by far my best bicycle headlight. Of course it can also just be used as a torch. As a bicycle headlight it is very bright and illuminates the road very clearly. And it is so bright that car drivers are easily able to notice the light and thus notice you (which sure beats getting run over). And as you point out, the light has the vertical cutoff so that whilst car drivers notice you, it does not shine up and blind them (obviously you have to have it properly mounted/positioned so that it does not point upwards). I searched for info about this light as I was curious as to the specs because I recently pulled them out of the cupboad after many years. I am amazed that the batteries were not flat as I thought they would self-discharge over time (but they were stored fully charged). Nevertheless I re-charged them to ensure they were fully charged and I ran a test and they were still shining brightly after an hour (I stopped after 60 minutesas I did not want to needlessly flatten them). Hopefully they will last quite a few more years, but when the batteries eventually lose their re-chariging capacity I will definitely just replace them so I can keep using the lights. Anyway, I am now going to check out some of your other videos.
