I will defend Atsushi with my life, he's my son. I can't even imagine how difficult it must have been for him to suddenly be thrown into the "normal" world from a world where he was beaten, humiliated and taught to hate himself. As the Joker said, "The worst part of having a mental illness is people expect you to behave as if you don't." I think this describes Atsushi quite well, as no one helped him work through it all, no one actually even tried to talk to him about it. And honestly, the director of the orphanage did him terrible harm and trauma for the rest of his life, and I don't understand people who justify it. He chose the worst possible path to make Atsushi "stronger". I also understand why people like Dazai and Akutagawa, but I can't understand why they feel so sorry for their traumas and make fun of Atsushi's trauma. This is not fair, because any harm, no matter what, if it interferes with our normal functioning and has a negative impact on our mental health, deserves attention and listening. In general, I think that Dazai and Ryuunosuke are overhyped, but this is my personal opinion and I do not impose it on anyone. Like whoever you want. If anyone wants to talk to me about BSD characters, please do so, I don't have anyone to talk to about it ;-;
