Southern Illinois is beautiful. I have a newly found appreciation for the numerous and historic state parks of Illinois. Clean and well taken care of. Proud to call Illinois my home state! Thanks for sharing! 🫶🏻 (Shawnee National Park Eclipse viewer ‘17 and ‘24)

This should be done a different way if you have someone ho is a hunter in your family and can teach you you don't need the class if you don't then you must take the class my son saids I'm not taking it because iv hunted with you dad since I was 8 the young people iv seen that have taken the course are as dangerous as all the others no saftey on putting loaded guns into there cars see im very safe why because that's ho I am yes it's a great idea for people that don't have someone to show them but taking over dad's job no that's a overreach

A few years ago my Sons motorcycle club held a "Blues Cruise" and a bunch of Sheriff's cars showed up to keep an eye on the event. My Grandson was 8 yrs old at the time and while we distracted the deputies he snuck around to the passenger side of one of the Sheriff's patrol cars and put some stick on bullet hole stickers that we had given him all over the passenger door of the car.

Saw my first Badger a few weeks ago. Didn't realize they were even in my area-never seen one in all my years going out into the wilderness. Was driving right outside the little town I live in and saw it's head sticking up. Right on the side of the road. Two weeks later it's hole was covered and flattened , no doubt the farmer whose land it was on probably poisoned it .

I am in support of Illinois House Bill HB3257 sponsored by Illinois House of Representative Robert Rita and Barbara Hernandez. Painted shells for hermit crabs are inhumane, unnecessary and destroy a much-needed natural resource. This type of animal abuse should be illegal, not just in Illinois but worldwide. Thank you.

I wonder if that rouge DNR guy is still there that liked to tailgate cars in the park to intimidate them to go over the speed limit and then ticket them. That was a few years back he tried it on me but I don't intimidate. Happened to a few that I knew though.

My wife and I just got back from Starved Rock State Park where we hiked for 3 hours or so. Many Pros and Cons to this park. 1. Lots of people taking advantage of this beautiful area (better than staying home and watching TV) 2. Big ethic diversity of people hiking (we heard many different languages being spoken) 3. Big diversity in age (old & young) and physical fitness (fit to not so fit - but their out hiking !!!!) 4. Easy walking/hiking paths 5. Beautiful scenery (many of these are widespread societal woes) 1. DON'T bring wi-fi speakers when hiking (we saw four individuals doing this) - we don't want to hear your music. 2. DON'T throw garbage (pack it in, pack it out). We were appalled by the many water bottles, etc. in the woods. 3. DON'T take your shirt of men (yes it was 80 degrees today, but have some public decency) 4. DON'T bring alcoholic beverage on your hikes - there's a sign stating "no acholoic beverages" (we saw a few people drinking beers) 1. Whenever there is a trail junction, identify trails and/or put a trail map up 2. Social Trails - There are social paths (unofficial paths). These should be vigorously blocked and not just with small trail sticks saying "not a trail". Use fallen trees and rocks to strongly discourage people from continuing to use them. I am very glad we have such a beautiful state park so close to metro Chicago (just a 90 minute drive for us). But we need to help to keep it clean and enjoyable for everyone.

While your dad may never have been able to take you hunting, it sounds like he provided you with a life that allowed you to have that opportunity today. Obviously he did a great job raising you. Thanks for sharing your story. As someone who also never had a chance to learn to hunt growing up but very much wants to learn, this was a very inspiring story

Love this! I've been telling people for years that we need to eat silver carp more! It's a classic move of ours in the states to have a food fish go feral and then hate it simply because it becomes nativized and abundant in our local waters. This is a nice move to reset our attitudes. 👍

@philaletha
@philaletha Жыл бұрын
Goldfish are more closely related to common carp (they can interbreed). So eating a common carp WOULD be more like eating a goldfish. Silver "Asian carp" though aren't closely related to the common carp or goldfish, and are filter feeders. So eating a silver carp is radically different from eating a goldfish. Take the time to learn more!
