A Cayman is not an alternative to the 911. It’s an awesome stand alone platform, its driving dynamics is arguably superior. Any limitations of a model is on Porsche politics not on the engineers and enthusiasts. Get a PPI pre purchase inspection, but it could make all the difference financially.

The blocks for these were half a Stag V8 engine and had a capacity of 1850cc where the Stag V8 gave 3,000cc and were first used by SAAB in 1968 and then Triumph in 1972. The 16 valve heads arrived in 1973 with 2 litre blocks. Early ones had issues with head gaskets but they could be built to be sublime motors. giving 150hp on standard cams.

I never liked the square front on those, but the engine was a cracker. My last mini was a 1979 1100 Special in silver birch livery. The previous owner had swapped the motor for a mildly tuned 1275....still one of the most fun cars I have ever owned and I wish I still had it.
