Her foot position was killing me the entire time lol Im guessing she's used to positioning them outwards because of western saddles being built differently? I've never ridden western so idk

lol I'm primarily a western style rider or I ride bareback . ... .every time I use an english saddle I'm like never again! I just get thrown off by this little piece of leather between my legs lol.

So I’m a barrel racer and one of my best friends is a jumper, she made me try riding her horse one time, I had never ridden in an english saddle before, and I swore I never would again😂 I was sore for three days😂 everything was so different from what I was used to and 110% respect to english riders, yall are amazing, it just isn’t for me

I love your humor. I watch Clever Cowgirl and Free Spirit Equestrian to relax. Now I will look forward to you too. I was just a horse crazy kid 50 years ago who went to camp, but never got to ride or own in my life. So I love learning about who horses are. How they think and act. I wish you success

I thought spurs don't hurt, why would they be removed for ''safety''?
@I_Love_DogsToooMuchКүн бұрын
Cairo is very reactive to spurs and not all spurs are safe especially if you kick hard. Horses also have THINNER skin than people! So it’s felt more especially when it hurts

Is Nimbus a standardbred? Or were you saying Missy is a standardbred Dutch harness horse cross?

You need trotting poles , canter poles for groundwork first, which will bring her head down, right now, you should only be trotting into jumps. Horses can jump high even in trot. Practice lead changes, long reining , with side reins on , supple excersises getting a horse to give to pressure in a head collar side to side and down. Using draw reins for short periods, to train the lowering of the head. And use a standing martingale, properly fitted, so it's not tight, to bring her star gazing down to focus on the jump. You should get her used to multiple trotting poles first , then put some in front of the cross pole. Also a pole in front of every jump to start , so she knows where to take off.

What happens when the gate hits them?

@sophiekonola5486 SHOCK 😭 thats horrible. What is wrong with humans to design something like that
@sophiekonola54864 күн бұрын
@hjonkhjonksillygoose I'd assume it's a very light shock.
@loveyou-cs4 күн бұрын
@ , the gate generally doesn’t hit them. Horses are very aware of their surroundings and smart enough to not let the gate hit them. Very, very rarely does it hit them. If it does, it doesn’t hurt them. It doesn’t shock them, the gate just hits their flank, almost a reminder to walk on.

The giggling is annoying - just for future reference. LMAO that she tried to neck rein. The girl would have done much better (and so would the horse) in an English saddle. Posting looks like she's working way too hard for such a big horse. It ain't hard work if you are doing it right and your horse is awake. . Gotta have contact! That horse is saying, "where the heck ARE ya?" and doing his best not to do the wrong thing with zero leadership. You guys must fall off a lot if you are scared of tall horses. Haha.
