Hi! The only way white can save the game is to eliminate the rook on b8, otherwise he'll get mated by the Queen on a2. (The only move to do that is Re8+). If bxa3 then b2#.

Hi, thanks for the comment. We are looking for the "forced" checkmate. This type of checkmate often results from a well-executed series of moves that limit the opposing player's options and force them into a losing position. Black can defend the position by playing Nf5. 😊
