The original radio version aired January 1, 1950. As far as I know that’s the first time this script was used

My grandfather would watch Jack Benny. He has such a unique humor that put himself down It was sort of curb your enthusiasm before that type of humor became popular today.

The Golden Age wasn't always in color. It will never be the same. At least it is all recorded.

In what way is this a 30 year payoff? Christ, if you're going to post something like this, at least explain it for those of us who aren't 100 and/or American.

Peanut butter used to cost 49 cents. Now it’s more like $10 a jar.

My grandfather was known to all his friends as "Jack" even thought his given name was John. Even my elder brother who worked for my grandfather for several years never knew why he was called Jack. Then one night at 3am, I saw the Jack Benny Program. It wasn't long before I realized my grandfather was a Jack Benny fan and used to do impressions of Jack all the time. Jack's stance, where he leaned back a bit, one hand under the opposing elbow, the other hand on the cheek, the slow look around, my grandfather did that all the time. We were all just too young to get the gag. He would talk like Jack and was even "unusually frugal" solidifying why his friends called him Jack. About the only Jack-ism he missed was he never took up the violin. It was a bit surreal learning this about a man who had been gone for many many years.
Happy New Year! I just happened on to this movie, review and radio show today and what a delightful surprise and enjoyable time spent with a youtube video. I was particularly glad to see Fibber McGee and Molly as I am a fan of their radio show. And, of course, Mary Livingston, was great, both in her part and nods to her radio poems. In addition to the fascinating combination of movie, vaudeville , and big screen musical numbers, I was interested in how people seemed to travel with their own travel trailers. The preshow review really enhanced the movie. Do you think Rufe Davis did his own sound effects? He was the cherry on the cake for me. PS I think she married the wrong guy. Many thanks!

If they ever do a movie about Jack Benny, I think Kevin Spacey could play him.😊

I'd heard the radio bit "Your money or your life" but didn't know it was Jack Benny until he passed and I watched a retrospective on TV. Then I discovered reruns of his TV show on PBS. They're funny, well-written and the humor and characters still hold up today!
