Also in Japan here: I recently got a The Loar LM-600-vn second hand, pleasently surprised to be honest, it's fairly similar to what you are playing in tone and easy to play. Not overly powerful but really quite sweet sounding. Have you tried one?

Not to be a purist or acting like I know what I'm talking about, why would you want to tune a mandolin like a guitar why not just tune and play a mandolin like a mandolin?

I love learning from you. I'm in my early 40s I've been playing guitar since I was 15. In my younger years, I've learned to play guitar and go back on bass guitar and Relearning how to play the same song on bass. I've gotten pretty good at that. But hear recently I've picked up the mandolin and ukulele. Ukulele I can pretty well get the crossover. I've picked up a few mandolin songs you posted. Granted I've only been at it for 2 months. Losing my Religion I can cross our on my notch as of learned. I was thinking maybe play The Misfits -Saturday Night. I've been learning the chords and transferring from guitar to mandolin but can't get anywhere because I'm new. I know the chords but going to mandolin from guitar it's still different. Just a thought, maybe you could help.

At some point I'd love to try a TCE HOF, but I currently use a Dispatch Master and it works really well. Also has some delay options in it as well. As far as DIs, I could never get a decent sound with a Baggs PADI. I liked the Red Eye a lot in terms of sound but the boost wasn't loud enough and I wanted more EQ options at my feet. The Grace Designs Alix is pricey, but it is terrific on both accounts. That being said, pairing mandos with DIs is soooooooo dependent on the mandolin. Oner guy's set up might not work for someone with a different mando. It's not an instrument that was really built to be DI'd, and it's really surprising how different mndos respond to different DI set ups.
@RockPopMandolin2 ай бұрын
Cool. Thanks for the input. Sounds like you have a nice set up. BTW, I just picked up the HOF Mini 2. It’s good, too. And takes up less space on the pedalboard.
