the North Atlantic hasn't changed at all in the past 100 years or so, apart from a few plastic bottles. The Somme is a fascinating place to visit. always something new to discover but never enough time.

Well worth the visit, if you get the chance. Plenty of places to see within walking distance. Wear a decent pair of comfortable shoes. The Dutch are still very appreciative, and are excellent hosts.

I regularly pay my respects at Oosterbeek and Valkenswaard, the start and finish of Market Garden. I was there 10 days ago when a number of veterans were at the cemetery in Oosterbeek. These were all brave men, there are a number of VCs resting in Oosterbeek. #wewillrememberthem

I believe there is a sailor buried at osterbeak with an interesting story its hard to think when you look at the graves that your looking at very young men in the prime of life old men send young men to die something wrong about that

He was an air mechanic transferred to learn about Stirling engines which were similar to RN flying boats. He was killed on a resupply drop.

Worth a visit, the area around the Hartenstein Hotel is very pretty and walking the ground gives a good idea of the situation facing the paratroopers. The Dutichies don't forget and this is shown by events such as the Oosterbeek 'flower children' as well as in the names of streets and locations. The controversy around the viability of the imssion remains , however one thing is certain: light infantry and armour don't mix. The biggest questions are the 'what if's' with perhaps the biggest one being 'what if' the 9 and 10 SS tank divisions had not been sent to the 'rest' areas around Arnhem, Nijmegen and Wolfheze. Lest we forget.

Walking around the area you will come across a sign saying two men are buried close by but the exact whereabouts are unknown.

I hope that chap finds his great uncles resting place so his family can have closure, sadly shows the impact the loss of family members can have on future generations

I visit Oosterbeek regularly. Last week ( 7 sept. ) I was there to pay my respects. There were a number of Arnhem veterans there as well. The local papers asked people to be careful when shaking their hands. These are true heroes, not overpaid footballers. #wewillrememberthem

Hi, the 80th anniversary of the raid was last year of course, and of the film will be 2035. Years ago we were promised a Dambusters remake, but I doubt it will ever happen, likely considered un-pc these days.

My great uncle is buried at Deir Al balar cemetery. I knew he died in Palestine from information I got but I didn't know it was there. It is a very heartbreaking situation there and knowing I have that connection there makes it very poignant. I hope and pray that the team of gardeners are safe . Thank you .

The sad reality today in Britain, most of those men who fell in Arnhem would be branded right wing extremists by the current government, thats how low Britain has fallen.
