Sadly Freddie had nobody to talk to. Except Mary. Yet so many people love him still- including myself. Freddie, The Queen is uplifting my mood, I often fall asleep listening Queen in a bad mood and wake up feeling good. Every song of Queen is a masterpiece. Freddie is a legend. Surely, parasails were all over hounding him. David Bowie puts it all together in his song Fame.

I could just cry, I discovered Fred a few days ago while watching tv and his name came up. Of course I’ve heard their songs but knew nothing about the band. I can’t believe what a great, great guy Freddie was, what an entertainer, what a fun guy. I will forever be envious of those of you were able to attend Queen’s shows.

I’m so glad that Freddie had no inhibitions. He changed the rock world with his majestic talent. Yeah he died young and it was tragic, but I think Freddie would not have liked this world very much, with its technology and extreme lack of artistry.

I think you may be right about the music aspect, but,,, I've thought about some things I think he would love about this era: 1. Gay marriage and health benefits and life insurance for their domestic partners, husbands, etc.. 2. Laptop computers and smart phones to stay in touch with everyone.. 3. Kitty daycare, nanny cams to watch his prized kitties while he's away, & of course funny cat videos on utube!! 4. Planes, trains and automobiles! Transportation has come along way since 1991.. 5. Satellite & high definition, flat screen TV! Who doesn't love that.. A. The freedom to be who you are. (Mostly) Acceptance of who you are, color, ethnicity, & sexuality has come a long way since 70, & 80s There's lots more work to do, but remember in Freddies time here, it was Illegal to be gay.. B. I'd like to add our young generation of kids have a strong desire to end prejudice, against anything. The schools teach the kids from the start of elementary, no bullying, stand up for your rights, & protect those who feel they can't defend themselves. The Millinimums really have taken on saving our planet, reducing emissions, footprints, & saving the trees, ozone, animals, etc. It is a hard task they have, & they feel this weight of the world on them and the need to fix it. It's tough,, but they are doing it!! Our young generation now is going to grow up and end racism & discrimination.. We all need to get on board with that same goal in mind, these kids are the next future & they are going to drive it home!!! C. Freddie taught us to not judge.. ❤ He is literally missed more and more everyday.. what a spectacular, talented, kind human being, a beautiful soul. I know he is quite busy these days jamming out with the angels..😇 much much love for Freddie 💛🍃

Bright Night thank you for all the positivity it's heartening to hear how the glass is more than half full, in what some consider a time of great deterioration . Freddie is still here, helping artists from the other side. He's interested in technology but more so the creativity latent in society. From the other side it is clear that more interest needs to focus on that.

I love watching these Queen documentaries. :) I am fascinated by the story of Freddie, Brian, Roger and John. Just thinking about the alignment of stars (or divine intervention) that brought these 4 totally different individuals together to do something extraordinary is incredible to me. Brian and Roger could have ignored Freddie because of his flamboyant style, his ethnicity or his looks but they recognized talent and didn't care about the differences. Thank God for that!! They were all so young, full of energy and creativity and just wanted to produce good music. Little did they know when they started out what a huge impact their music would have and that it would leave an indelible impression on generations & inspire millions of people.

Totally agree with you, Marie!! Long time no see, by the way! Did you receive your copy of the big photo book from the Queen/Mercury Trust website yet? Mine came late last week--I LOVE it! Appreciate you encouraging me to buy it there rather than on Amazon.

Dancin' Queen Hey there! Good to hear from you. 😊 You mean the Great Pretender book, right? Yes i got it last week as well. It took a while to arrive so I started getting nervous i wouldn’t get it and was so excited when it came. I am actually out of the country for vacation so didn’t have time to read it. Was tempted to bring it with me but then decided it was too heavy. 😆 so glad to hear you got it from the Trust as well - it felt good to support them instead of Amazon for a change. I also got both the Jim Hutton and Peter Freestone books. I haven’t started either yet but i did bring the Peter Freestone book with me to read when i have some downtime.

It is really hard to believe next year will be 50 years since the official formation of Queen! The resurgence in their popularity may have been due to the recent movie but even without it, there is no denying that Queen's music is epic & timeless. Their status as legendary songwriters, performers and musicians will never fade.

Chewy Ltd Wow that is lucky!! Which concerts did you see? Yes i am familiar with Smile. 😊 I have been going back to the origins of all of the band members and checking out their early stuff. I also read about Tim Staffell because i was curious about where he is now. good to know he’s doing well. he acknowledged just how ironic it was that he left Smile and then Freddie joined and he, Brian, John and Roger formed Queen and all went on to become one of the most legendary bands of all time. 😏. i was happy to read that he contributed to the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack.

Chewy Ltd Chewy Ltd That’s so awesome!! You certainly have priceless memories from seeing them. If only today’s concerts still cost $6!! 😁 I missed out on those opportunities to see Queen in the US, one because i was a little too young and 2 because (as you mentioned) they didn’t tour in the US as much in the 80’s when i was old enough to go see them. Plus i didn’t really follow them as much in my youth - i was a huge fan of Prince. ☺️💜 I can only imagine how beyond incredible it was to see Queen perform live!!

The "other 3 had subdued conventional lives" lol, when Roger Taylor slept with dozens of groupies and married 3 times. John Deacon was the only one to have a conventional marriage although he was an alcoholic by the time he left Queen.
@janellebaker26215 жыл бұрын
Actually, Roger has only been married twice. He had a long-standing relationship with model Deborah Leng in between the marriages. And I don't think you should call John Deacon an alcoholic, no matter what you've read.
@Nina-oi1qk5 жыл бұрын
@@janellebaker2621 Well, you get the point; 2 or 3 or 4 marriages are irrelevant and so is any other personal problem. and so is Freddie's personal life. It's just that I hate the way it's all portrayed by the media.

How horrible... having fame, fortune, ... but besides Mary, nobody to share it with, nobody significant... lonelyness and sollitude.. losing yourself in lavish parties with so called friends... who were there for the fame and the money but left you with nothing. At the end he got the big disease with the little name... what a bloody waste. Sooo talented, knowledgeble, funny, intelligent, but regrettably gone... what a loss, there could of been so much more ...

I don't think his life was as bereft as you put it. He did find happiness with Jim Hutton in the last 6 years of his life and had a good relationship with his sister and with many close friends. Some of what he said in interviews was to keep the mystery of the rock star image. I don't think it was "a bloody waste" as you said; he brought happiness to millions and still is. It was not "horrible" ; dont believe all the nonsense the media put out about Freddie.
@yasminmont.60675 жыл бұрын
@@Nina-oi1qk I think you are not 100% accurate Nina unfortunately. Coz' even when Freddie had Jim he said that the only person he trusts is Mary amd it was reflected in how he assigned his estate to his inheritors in his will. Moreover he cheated on Jim on several occasions. He was very busy recording in his last years and he assigned Jim as his gardener. It is true that he brought and continues to bring happiness to millions, but he was not happy in his life. He said several times that he was very lonely.
@Nina-oi1qk5 жыл бұрын
@@yasminmont.6067 I think you are going by the interview with David Wigg in 1985; if you listen to the multiple interviews with David Wigg in 1987 , he talks about being happy in his current relationship and that he was monogamous; Jim was with him always as per videos and also Brian May has said that Freddie was in a "stable loving relationship" for 6 years before he died. Jim was HIV + so Freddie would have thought he was going to die soon as well, so it make sense that he left his money to Mary and his sister/parents. No-one is happy all the time in their life but a few spotty years of unhappiness doesn't mean his life was "horrible" or a "waste" as some people have said in their comments.
@yasminmont.60675 жыл бұрын
@@Nina-oi1qk It was definitely not a waste....I agree with you. But the initial commenter meant that it's such a waste that we lost him at such a young age. She or he is absolutely right. As for the interview you are referring to with David Wigg when he spoke about Jim, I have watched it too. But Jim himself in his book said that Freddie cheated on him several times. Freddie later also said that he had become almost asexual as he grew up. Anyway, his life wasn't a waste for sure, but it is such a pity that we lost him so early because of the very lifestyle he chose to lead....which sadly never made him feel really happy. I can't be sure whether Freddie knew Jim had caught AIDS or not... I might have read something like that.
