Well, now I'm here in 2024 trying to use Linux Mint 22. The system uses "CUPS" printing which I believe has been the case for many years. BUT NOW... my "Printers" app (using CUPS in the background, just like shown here) will FIND my Epson printer through the network. It "SEEMS" to set it up and everything. BUT... if I try to print ANYTHING, including the "test page", it just stay in the queue. It just sits... FOREVER. No error. Nothing. Just plain old "won't work." I've been digging into this ALL DAY. Like literally from about 10am until 10pm. It's just a home setup Wifi network. The Epson ET-2720 is a pretty good Wifi printer. I've never had a problem. ANYONE? Any thoughts. I just cannot figure this out so far. I've tried all manner of command line "CUPS" commands and editing .conf files directly and more. I'm at a loss. Some "experts" online just say that nobody prints much anymore; so what's the big deal. I know. I don't print much... but I'm trying to ditch Windows altogether. I MIGHT need to print things here and there.

In newer versions of Alpine you could've used the setup-desktop command after install then it would have made you chose the desktop environment you want to use and install it for you automatically

If you wanna learn Arch Linux this distro is the best way to do it gaming over all is okay I need a wired connection for faster download speeds because I am technically using a Windows adapter and not a Linux one.

Doesen't work, only VueScan works for me on my brother MFC-J6510DW with detecting my printer and scanning, but it costs 50$ to use it without watermark. They even gave sone .deb linux drivers but nothing happen if I install them. Only VueScan is able to detect and scan with my printer.

Hey Colin! Nice review. I used to use Lubuntu a lot, back in the days. But when they changed to LxQt, as opposed to LxDE previous, a lot got broken. At least in Dutch, my native language. I used to put my brother on Lubuntu too, but as he's not fluently in English, I moved him over to Mate, which he really likes (which I like too, btw, but I like Gnome better 😉). Just leaving a response and a like for the KZbin algorithm. 😄

Is there any way to make sure my USB boots in legacy mode. Anyways, great content and love the work.
@pctlc
@pctlc Жыл бұрын
G'day mate, It sounds like your bios maybe set for uefi mode and not legacy, it maybe worth checking that, otherwise try boot options, if you can see 2 entries for your usb, one will be for efi the other would be legacy. The following link you can find boot options for your computer brand www.wikigain.com/boot-menu-option-keys-for-all-laptops-desktops/ I think it maybe worthwhile changing the bios from uefi to legacy and that error should go away, unless you need to re-install but I wouldn't think so, but you never know with computers Lol
@Haris-bg4jy
@Haris-bg4jy Жыл бұрын
@@pctlc Yeah I suspected that and checked in 3 separate ways it all indicated my system boots in legacy, so I ignored the warning and the whole thing works perfectly fine except that the Grub menu doesn't appear automatically, it appears when I manually select to boot from my second drive which I could probably set up to boot from on default anyway. Thanks for taking the time to respond btw I really appreciate it.
