When testing a 3prong. You get 110-120 on each side, but dead across the 2. What could cause that?

I did something similar to this when installing a baseboard heater, made an errant tap with my probe and blew the tip off with a pop that made my ears ring and probably scarred my retinas. I just replaced the 3 prong Receptacle. When I check each side with the neutral. Each side has 120, but when I check the cross( positive and negative) at the aame time it does not say 220. It zeros out or says 3. What could be the problem?

You have your red probe plugged in the ground(common) plug. Black goes in com, red goes in batt for standardized measurements

Mine it shows restart instead or reset. Then when i restart it shows restart or cancel unlike yours which shows reset and gives you option to press factory reset or cancel.

It keeps coming up with a error that says no peripheral controller detected

I'm not a person who can fix things. Nobody ever showed me how to do anything and I've owned my own house for 6 years and now things are starting to wear down. I've been without a washer for 6 months and finally had someone come and do a diagnostic. This is all I said I needed to do and he was going to come back and do it for 150 bucks. I'm going to try this out and hope I'm successful. You all made this look extremely easy. I hope I'm going to have as much success as you all. I'll comment to give you an update
