Was this Devconf 2024? I attended your talk in CT but the room looked different so was this maybe Sandton or a different year? (So actually I checked the description and saw it was at Emporers Palace).

our mindshift wont change because AI will take our jobs. your fancy wordplay speech that you generated from ChatGPT will only get you so far before corporations realize they can just do it themselves and they dont need you anymore or make the AI not need inputs anymore. AI was the biggest mistake humankind has made since the Atomic Bomb.

summary: yes it will. blah blah blah about it just being a tool to make you more productive but the real problem is it makes EVERYONE productive so you lose your job security and all the time you spent learning / educating yourself to get ahead. you lose all your value because now joe shmoe off the street could be a random homeless dude is now a programmer....AHEM i mean PROMT ENGINEER...untill he gets fired because now the AI doesnt need input anymore it can do things autonomously.

Chris and his team at Kaleidocode are the example we need in South Africa! It's absolutely amazing to see what REAL change they are making in the community, while building a strong business. If more companies had this passion, we could make a significant dent in the unemployment challenges facing the youth.

I'm so glad that my hubby Dale told me about this talk 🙌 I really enjoyed it & found it very authentic & informative 👏 I'm very interested in psychology & mental health so I'm always looking to educate myself on these topics. It was inspiring to hear Schalk share his story & knowledge from his experiences. Mental health is a topic that we should be continuously shining a spotlight on & talking about, including in the workplace.
