i ran across this, saw the stroller cook book and thought of my grandma, Spartanburg sc, well used to live in spartanburg, not too far away , in powdersville now
@JackiesSouthernSoul14 сағат бұрын
Oh my goodness. My Grandma Lewis used to get the Stroller Cookbook each and every year. As you know it was a pretty big deal in Spartanburg County. I was very sad when they discontinued it. I used to have more but over the years I lost my earlier copies from moving around a lot. We cooked a lot of good food from those cookbooks. Thank you for watching and God Bless!

I made these along with veg that was laying around in my fridge - chopped carrots, mushrooms, garlic cloves, mini sweet peppers, onion, shallots. I used a little too much broth and I think I ended up with stew, lol. It was delicious!

5:15 you're right. That fat, can hook you Lol. I try not to eat much of it, but it can be delicious! Everything in moderation though. I looked at Sharazad Ali's video on the pig and I really slowed down and I rarely eat it if at all, but different strokes for different folk. Carry on...

I live it the deep, deep South. The Gulf of America, January 21 2025 on the Coast, right now we have snow and ice on the ground . I went outside before the freeze and picked all my green tomatoes because we were having a hard freeze over night. I did not want to lose them to a hard freeze, so I will be having green fried tomatoes, in a hour or so. I haven't had any, in may years , looking foreword to having them. As I remember they were fantastic they are unbeatable in taste. Lucky me, LOL.
@JackiesSouthernSoul15 күн бұрын
Wow, a hard freeze in the deep south! That’s crazy but we are experiencing it in the Upstate of South Carolina as well! We got unexpected snow today with no warning until this afternoon. It started snowing around 4:30pm. My tomatoes were wiped out from Hurricane Helene. My plants suffered so much damage from the wind and beating rain that I just took them all down. I wanted to make chow chow with all of my green tomatoes but procrastination got the best of me. We enjoyed plenty of fried green tomatoes this Summer. Always delicious 😋

I never use parsley it gives it a metallic taste. Just maybe its just me! So I leave it out of every thing, that calls for parsley unless it calls for very little parsley.
@JackiesSouthernSoul15 күн бұрын
You must have used way too much parsley for you to even detect that it has a metallic taste. I use it as a garnish either fresh or dried but never to flavor anything.

Make your own brine, soak for 7 to 10 days ( depends in size ) boil in light beef broth.

Hi Jackie did you ever made a jelly cake. 4 layer
@JackiesSouthernSoul17 күн бұрын
Hi Mary! No I’ve never made one but I think I know what you are talking about. Do you have a recipe?
@maryburgess890617 күн бұрын
Well my mom use to make this cake back in the days but no one ever make it any more some time i make it all I do is get 2 box of yellow cake mix and I make 3 layers then I get 2 jars of apple jelly and I mix the jelly with a little vanilla flavor and mix the jelly until it was spreadle. And put it between the layers just like you was making a 3 layer chocolate cake

I have always cooked my beans with ham hocks but lately here in Texas I haven't been able to get good tasting ham hocks but I usually make my beans like that with white rice the white rice consists of rinsing it twice to three times I put salt onion powder and garlic powder and that's it to season my white rice that's how feed my babies and my grandbabies my mama is she from Louisiana she's the one that told me that put the ham hawk when I first got married
