I ended up not keeping it and gave it away. I found holding the button to heat it up slowed me down. I'd rather have the iron heat up and hold temp so I can solder something, position another wire, solder that, position another, solder that. With the Frogbro it had to heat up each time. It's good if you only need to solder something every once in a while.

SEVEN"S PINBALLORAMA, Why do pinball games use a combination of Slow Blow and Fast Blow Fuses?
@SevensPinballoramaАй бұрын
Safety for the circuit they're running. Some times you want things to pop right away. Other things can handle a little power fluctuation.
@waynegram8907Ай бұрын
@@SevensPinballorama But how do you know if a circuit can handle power fluctuations which would take a Slow blow? The Fast Blow circuits can't handle power fluctuations for what reasons?
@waynegram8907Ай бұрын
@@SevensPinballorama It doesn't say in the pinball game service manuals what "determines a circuit" to use a slow blow or fast blow fuse, which the designers choose to use a slow blow compared to using a fast blow or vise versa for reasons
@SevensPinballorama22 күн бұрын
Sorry. I misunderstood. I thought you meant in general why use one over the other. For replacing the fuse in a game, the manual should tell you if it's slow or fast blow.

If I owned the building - or had a 15 year lease - I could solar the roof. Small scale wind turbines don't produce well enough, but lots of solar rebates.

And a FLASH too would be nice, but I'm thinking the power draw just for the FLASH light might be very expensive with all the lightning bolts on that game.

That is the Govee LED Curtain light. Actually, it's 3 of them joined together. Each panel is about 1.5m X 2m. 520 LEDs per panel. There is an app you use to load different pre-programmed "scenes", or you can make your own. If I recall you can sequence up to 5 scenes to play in a row. I keep meaning to look if there is a firmware update for this, but I forget.

I bought a 32 channel Project 8 a few years ago from Reverb. It was packed in a clothing packing box (thin corrugated cardboard), filled with packing peanuts and a couple of patio chair cushions. Mangled the frame, I’m still trying to rebuild it. Your box opening took me right back, my heart was racing haha. I recently found a 24 channel used at an out of state Guitar Center. Arrived on a pallet (they only charged $25 for shipping!), not a scratch and in way better condition than listed. Hopefully I’ll have the 32 + 24 next to each other soon 😁.

I also developed some mods to the PSUs, trying to pick up where Tim Jones left off. Higher current handling and some protections for the outputs (plus upgraded rectifiers and beefier caps). If you’re interested in the details, and still have the console, let me know!

Quick question… do you put anything in the holes before you clear? For context, I have removed everything from the top of the playfield but have not removed everything from under. I have put disposable earplugs in the holes where they fit and old bulbs in sockets but still have other holes like drop targets.

Thanks. I have been driving myself nuts working on a Williams Grand Prix that doesn't end the game correctly. As you say, I have replaced the coil on the game-over relay, but I guess I have to go back and inspect the switches on that relay more carefully. I think I did already. The machine is at my daughter's house in another city, so I only get to check it out every once and a while.
@SevensPinballoramaАй бұрын
Might be something like this if it seems like the relay tries to close but never "latches". I run into this from time to time.

I recently had my Target Alpha not going to game over. My problem was unique in that the switch on motor 1C that provides power to the game over coil had lost it's power. More than likely a bad solder connection somewhere on the score motor...but where..? Since the power goes from the BX to the game over coil, a jumper was soldered on the BX from a switch with power to the switch that goes to the game over coil. Kind of an end around fix, but it's been working great.

I'm actually ok with it at the end of the day. I like having a board or two floating around that fit in games on the floor. If something blows up I can swap the board. get the machine up and running quickly, and fix the old board when I have time. Also, in cases like this where it really seems like a MPU glitch, being able to swap the board can rule that out.
