Hi this has been really helpful for me thanks, I am considering musical theatre and I know you said you tried out for 12 places. Do you think that is a good amount of places to apply to?

Did they help you to become an actor, for example, did Drama Studio London help you to get roles in Netflix shows or movies? I'm curious because I want to join as well but I don't know if it's worth it as there are other acting schools such as reel scene.
@EllieIsabelle2 жыл бұрын
The school itself provides training with the aim of you working as an actor, but any employment comes after when you might get an agent or apply for auditions yourself. You can pay for courses that specialise in making show reels etc but I do get a show reel as part of my course x

Where can I find the monologues? On Google?

Some are available on google but I recommend going to a bookshop and reading lots of different plays to find speeches

Hi, Sorry if this is a silly question but can you go to drama school at 16?
@EllieIsabelle3 жыл бұрын
Hey, you won’t be able to do a degree course at 16 but there will be schools that do A Level/BTEC courses in performing arts! x

Love all your drama school videos! x I was wondering do you need to be a trained singer to get into drama school?
@EllieIsabelle3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No you don’t, especially not for a straight acting course but if it’s a musical theatre course then experience and knowledge helps but they don’t expect you to be trained otherwise you wouldn’t need the course! Hope that helps x

Hi what reason did you choose the drama school over PPA ? X
@EllieIsabelle3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I preferred the audition process and what they generally had to offer, as well as it being based in London and being more established for acting x

Hi there, thank you for the video!! Do you think that is possibile to have a successful audition even if a person doesn't have basically any acting experience?
@EllieIsabelle3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yeah I think most drama schools say they look for talent mainly and potential to learn and improve with training.

Hey I go to Artsed and they only do Level 3 Diploma in acting which is equivalent to 3 a levels. But if you want to do Alevel Drama you need to get a 7 in drama GCSES.

Personally, I’d stick with your own natural accent, unless told otherwise by a director or audition panel.

Everyone will be looking for something different so it’s hard to know exactly what they want, just go with what you think is right and be present, in the moment, using your whole body like you would in person

Hi there I am in Indian and I'm really passionate towards dramatics especially theatre. I also want to get into a good drama school but my family can't afford sending me there. Can you please tell me whether they also provide you with 100% scholarship
@EllieIsabelle4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the drama school, look into the ones you want to go to and see if they offer any scholarships or bursaries. If you can’t find anything on the website then try emailing them and they’ll definitely tell you what they can offer you financially.

Great video! My acting teacher has recommended Many Moons to me and like you mentioned I love the Birthday monologue but I was just wondering if you heard many other people doing that one for auditions as I don’t want to pick one that’s super popular!! Thankyou💫
@EllieIsabelle4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I haven’t personally heard anyone do the birthday monologue, but I was told by a few teachers on my foundation that the other Juniper monologue ‘I am looking for love’ is quite popular for auditions, which is why I didn’t do that one. So I didn’t hear the birthday one being done last year when I auditioned, not sure if it will be more popular this year or not, but maybe have a second backup monologue that you can use just in case? x
@mimawilx32824 жыл бұрын
Hiya Ellie! Love your videos they are so helpful! I have started reading both Many Moons and Playing with Grown ups recently. I am applying for drama schools this year for Musical Theatre. To put it short, I think both monologues are great, but I prefer Junipers monologue over Stellas monologue; but I am worried that because the character is 24, that that may be considered too old?? What are your thoughts? Should I go for Stellas because of the fact she is 16 even though I prefer the other monologue? Thank you so much!! Hope you reply!🥺xx
@mimawilx32824 жыл бұрын
I am 17 by the way! Xx
@EllieIsabelle4 жыл бұрын
If the monologue doesn’t really mention or rely on the age of the character, and you can still relate to it, then I would go for the Juniper one as you’ll enjoy performing it more Xx

Hiya Ellie, I love your channel! I’m auditioning this year and I’m looking at PPA, did you do a Shakespeare piece when you auditioned there? I’m not sure wether to do 2 contemporary pieces or one contemporary and one classical xx
@EllieIsabelle4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! When I auditioned last year they had a set list of monologues and you had to learn one of them so I didn’t do a Shakespeare, but I would go with what you’re more confident with and the two monologues that would show more of a contrast. Maybe learn 2 contemporary pieces and a classical and see how you feel on the day? Or ask what they would prefer, that may make them impressed as you will be so well prepared! Xx

Right now if I want to apply I should send a self tape to the acting school .. any advice I can get from you for that bcz I really don’t know how it’s going to be !
@EllieIsabelle4 жыл бұрын
My advice is to make sure you read through the instructions they give you for the self tape and that you’re definitely doing it how they want you to. Also make sure your background is as plain/blank as possible so nothing is too distracting. Also there’s a tendency to want to make the self tape absolutely perfect, which is completely understandable, but be careful not to obsess over little details, as you’ll just be redoing it over and over and it’ll never seem perfect. Xx

How did you learn you monologues. Any strategy or anything.
@EllieIsabelle4 жыл бұрын
I go over the first line of the monologue, only adding the next line when I have learnt the previous one. Then after doing that I try and get someone to go over the lines with me, correcting me if I mess up xx
