so sad - animals being 99.9% instinct.. they really have no choice whether it’s about defending their territory or mating when cats fight, you’ll see them trying to attack each other’s foreheads - when they can land a claw in that area, it can hit a nerve that will cause the inner eyelid to close - losing the use of one eye ruins depth perception and the ability to hunt and fight - losing both dooms the victim to near-blindness and zero chance of being a threat to anything

Stop trying to interfere. It's important for them to sort out their dominance/territory issues. Let them do their thing and stay out of it. It can be difficult to watch, but remember that they have very thick coats of fur that act like armor. They aren't in as much pain as their screams make it seem. And in the end, they aren't trying to kill or seriously injure one another. It's just a little territory scuffle.
