Such an absolute timeless piece of music that it’s not even really fitting in to any genre. It’s just a really near perfect song that can’t ever be matched. A freak of nature that can’t be dated or be bettered. Never get sick of this track. Like tumbling dice

The released song is a great example of how Mick shapes Keith's rough song ideas into finished songs with lyrics, a chorus & full vocals! The Glimmer Twins rule!! 😂😄
@cultfilmfreakreviews2 жыл бұрын
lol Keith said that but there are many songs that are just Mick, like one thing you might've heard, Sympathy for the Devil, and then Brown Sugar too, which is the opposite: Mick writes the music and lyrics and then Keith pushes it over the edge i.e. the samba, the perfected riff, etc... and there are many that are just Keith... and then of course what Keith said: he writes that Mick shapes... Keith however made it seem they're all like that... he does that sometimes....

Hear him playing Everly Brothers himself & 2 Prison songs him only on keys singing in 1978 when he thought he was screwed with the 2oz of herion he got busted with in Canada with. When he sings & play keys alone his voice is so much more soulful than his lead singer & clown performer. LOST HIS SOUL WHEN HE LOST ANITA.

Chali Q I don’t agree, his current wife Patty Hansen probably saved his life. Who knows, though, what goes on behind closed doors. I just love the Rolling Stones as a band. I don’t need or even really want to know about their private lives.
@ChaliQ14 жыл бұрын
@@alicat7281 I met him once in 1988 & was not the soulful writer &singer he once was. His wife didn't save him, he saved himself because he was facing 10 years in jail. He may love his wife but not as deeply as he did with Anita. He Stayed on seeing her & was with her when she died. There are not as many people on this earth that can say they ever had such a deep connection with another person.

Chali Q It’s very dicey thinking one knows what goes on behind closed doors, especially in a marriage. I do respect how he treated Anita Pallenberg even up all the way to her death, but I suspect his current marriage to the lovely Patti Hansen is special and unique in its own way. We should not presume to know what goes on in a marriage.

Call this a counterpoint POV, but I've been a Stones fan for 40 years and I don't like it. The band sounds great, but Mick sounds drunk or stoned, his pitch is too artificially high and yet the vocal volume is mostly way too low, and the lyrics clearly hadn't been finalized/solidified. It almost sounds like the band was rehearsing the instrumental, and Mick just decided to start "rapping" the unfinished lyrics in falsetto as a goof. 😆 Knowing what control freaks the Stones and esp Mick are, I'm surprised this ever saw the light of day. I'm _SO_ glad that the finished song only has Mick singing falsetto at the end of the bridge ("Ain't I rough enough? Oooh..."). Less is truly more, in this case 🤣
@Mr62Lincoln5 жыл бұрын
They rehearse a lot of their songs in this manner - Mick has said he'll experiment with phonetics to see what fits and where within the construct of the music. This appears to be the case here. RELAX - it's just one take among many that we get to hear, and it helps build our understanding of their process.
@fordcountry4204 жыл бұрын
The Some Girls album sessions were essentially live recordings in the studio. The instrumental parts you hear in these bootleg session tapes are pretty much the same thing that is on the record, with a few overdubs here and there added later. The exception being the vocals, of course. Some songs like "When the Whip Comes Down" pretty much had the lyrics finished in the live "demo" take. Others like this one, Mick clearly hadn't finished them yet. Or listen to the 11:40 original take of "Miss You" for another example of the lyrics as a "work in progress"
@Sharky1654 жыл бұрын
@@fordcountry420 Fair enough, and thanks for the added insight. 😎👍🏻 Like I said, I’m a longtime fan, so any criticism is said with love. I think producers really earn their pay when they help solo acts and bands hone, define, and refine their style/sound, so perhaps that played a part as well. Granted, by the late ‘70s, the Stones had a pretty good idea of what that was and what they wanted to achieve with each album, but a lil nudge here & there from someone outside their echo chamber I’m sure didn’t hurt. 🤣 BTW, where did you get that inside info on _Some Girls_ ...a book or documentary perhaps ?
