So if that’s fast freight, was the flat car of people a cattle car? 😊 (I love riding on that flat car behind 401…..)

@nicholasmedovich8691 385 has more work needed to fix it then 401 did. The tender is rotted from what I've heard. All it takes is money and volunteer hours

@@amyreynolds3619 same with a couple other locomotives that the museum has, namely the "Illinois Central" E-8, which was originally a Pennsylvania unit, and a former Long Island ALCO RS-3, also painted for "I C", and their latest acquisition, the CN "E-9-U", which was originally a CB&Q unit! And this is the pits!, my parents paid for a life membership for me at this "so-called museum" back in 1972, and they recently dropped me as a member, for no reason at all, what a nice slap in the face! Guess i will be doing a lot of negative publicity for them!
@Pq0nFilms3 ай бұрын
@amyreynolds3619 Southern 401 was a million doller baby. The museum is even hesitant on running at night. I work with 401 on a regular basis and the cab only has a couple spots where ptc would fit. On the average weekend 401 travels 30 miles in total from all the excursions on the museums property. And wouldn't have enough water to even leave the state of Illinois from monticello with oil and water fully filled. Would need an auxiliary tender. Plus CN and NS don't touch steam locomotives with a 20 foot pole unless a lot of money is invested. Ptc requires regular maintenance and costs 100.000 dollers a year to maintain. If you donated the money and requested what to do with it. It would be a Possibility. I'm not a board member tho just a volunteer

@@Pq0nFilms o.k.............just curious, how did the MRYM get the 401 from Mrs. Sippy or Ally Bama🤔? Wherever it came from? It just barely ran when MRYM acquired it. And that was in the mid-1970s, i believe🤔. And what about 191?, is it just going to rust away?, like that ancient 4-6-0 behind the car shed?
