I don't agree with everything Elon says, but he's brilliant. I kind of agree with his foundation of economics. I'd argue that even more than economics, it is control over resources. Then you write your own checks. Win the battle of resources and it never gets to economics because to exploit resources, it takes money. An old adage is that an army marches on its stomach. Where resources come into this is that an automated army doesn't have stomachs, but does have energy needs, which leads back to controlling resources. The US did this brilliantly with the CIA and the shell companies it set up when the old USSR had certain elements the US needed. That is really how the SR-71 came into being. We managed to control resources we didn't have to leverage a technology to start a physical war before it started. It is as much about strategy and patience as it is force and money..... and even more important I'd argue. With Taiwan, China ultimately wants the resources to produce microchips. That obviously has vast economic benefit. To get to the economics portion of it, China has to have unrestricted access to the resources. Find a way to deny the resource, and the next step of economics doesn't happen. China's infrastructure is more impressive than in the US because is newer. China was very poor only 40 years ago, so everything is brand new and more modern. But that does not make them greater, just newer. The advent of AI and intelligent robots will define the future of America, and the Chinese will have to prove their worth not just by having a massive and cheaper labor force since that will be taken over by robots in the US, Europe, and elsewhere.
