Would this work as an alternative way of quilting for a quilt? I’m doing a Christmas table runner and I’m just wondering whether this would work if I did it as words of different Christmas Carols? Thanks
@modafabrics15 күн бұрын
Absolutely! This would be a really fun way to quilt. Just be sure to practice a bit first on some scrap quilt sandwiches! Thank you for watching and Happy Holidays!

My machine is quite old too. Do I not need a pressure foot like the one you are using? And do I need to disengage the feed dogs to have this free form motion?
@modafabrics29 күн бұрын
You will need a free motion quilting foot (or darning foot) and yes you will need to lower your feed dogs. Thanks for watching <3

Modafabrics can you do this with any sewing machine ? Mine is 30 years old and

As long as you can drop the feed dogs and switch to a free motion quilting (or darning) foot!

This was adorable and will give it a go this weekend. On a related note.... Shoo Fly, Don't Bother Me or Shew Fly is a folk song from the 1860s that has remained popular since that time. It was sung by soldiers during the Spanish-American War of 1898, when flies and the yellow fever mosquito were a serious enemy. We learned it in school it in the southern USA years ago and it went like this.... I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel like a morning star. I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel like a morning star. Shoo fly, don't bother me, Shoo fly, don't bother me, Shoo fly, don't bother me, I belong to the somebody. (Flies land on the dead so....don't bother with me!) Cheers!

Great explanations. Thank you for telling us the reason for the smaller stabilizer. And thanks for the idea of hiding the turn around under the pocket. Gives us another secret pocket too!

Won't the jelly roll edges fray?
@modafabrics2 ай бұрын
The pinked edges help a lot but you will get a little bit of texture on the sides of the jelly rolls with lots of use of the bag. It also depends on how you quilt the panels! We love the bit of texture it leaves behind on the bag we made here in the office! Thank you for your comment!
