You have no idea what you're talking about. If you have a soul you'll quit trying to sell this snake oil
@hangoverwhisperer32 минут бұрын
I do what I do because I not only have a soul, I am also well educated in addiction and recovery and have accumulated over 10k hours of experience working with women struggling with alcohol use disorder. My alternative approach has proven highly effective and yes, it is contrary to popular opinion. But if conventional wisdom was actually saving lives, we wouldn't be in an epidemic of addiction. All you have to do is look at the results to see what DOESN'T work. As Mark Twain says, when you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect. So question everything. Including me. Intelligent debate is key to growth.

Why would a sober person drink?
@furiousgeorge15208 күн бұрын
Please ignore this person and visit your local AA if you would like to stop drinking. We would love to have you!
@Buu78996 күн бұрын
AA doesnt fit for everyone. Look at relapse statistics and how many of those keep going back to AA for instance. There are many options for people. I think this woman has a lot of great takeaways that are helpful for the mental side of staying sober or being able to read your own body/mind that if you havena drink or two you won't spiral out of control.

Hi Colleen, so.. making the list of your wins and brainbot thoughts over time, your wins will be stronger and more powerful and you will choose the wins over your brainbot thoughts, correct?
@hangoverwhisperer12 күн бұрын
Yes. The more you focus on the thoughts you want to think, the more emotionally attached you’ll become to them. The more the old thoughts feel like “brain bots” the less attached you’ll feel.

I´d say the group and Stephanie are just not a good fit and she is right. Usually in groups like this the host changes around in the group and everyone has his turn. Also the host provides food and beverages. I can totally understand that an alcoholic does not want to store alocohol in the house in order to stay sober. Leftovers may pose a special risk. If the group can´t do a dry game night, they might have an alcohol problem too. Obviously the group does not care for Stephanie. I had "friends" who complained because I would not imbibe and wanted to coerce e doing it. They quickly got "unfriended" as was fed up with the "no booze, no fun" attitude.
@hangoverwhisperer13 күн бұрын
I love your breakdown of this. And I like your perspective that there's no reason for a sober person to nurture "no booze no fun" friendships. I actually remember wondering if I even like the people I'm hanging out with or if we are just using each other as a reason to drink. As I don't see most of them anymore, the answer is clear. All though I take full responsibility for being the asshole in that story.
@maxlutz367413 күн бұрын
@@hangoverwhisperer I don´t think there is a need for looking for an asshole in the story. If people don´t fit together, they should be able to part with mutual respect. I am aware of the fact that in my case the group depicted me as the bad guy. It´s a hard pill to swallow when someone doesn´t want to be part of a group that considers granting membership as a privilege.

I will say as an alcoholic, I have friends that are as well and some who just drink occasionally. I in no way shape or form get to tell everyone else what to do. I control my own actions. If I felt like I couldn't keep away from it I wouldn't opt to have the gathering at my house and I would have to rethink how to navigate around others who drink. I have been to family or friend events and others are drinking and I choose not to. If we have a problem with something...anything (i.e. binge eating) we eventually have to be able to deal with our own self not make everyone else change to suit our problems.

Did you repost this video because you didn't get the comments you wanted? Everyone disagreed with you yesterday when you posted this EXACT same video. You are a VERY DANGEROUS woman. Stop pedaling this nonsense before you ruin someone's life. A recovering alcoholic has every right to control if and when someone drinks IN HER HOUSE. If drinking during the game is more important to her friends than spending time with their RECOVERING ALCOHOLIC FRIEND, then Stephanie needs new friends.

Her house, her rules... But also, who says that she needs to host this kind of game night? I've never been an alcoholic, but there are certain kinds of events that I posted that I haven't allowed alcohol (others, depending on the nature, I don't mind hosting with alcohol present or even actively serving it).
