Can consistent NSDR help you reduce your sleep need hours per night? I need 9 to 10 hours of sleep per night to feel refreshed in the morning and anything less than that I am a zombie. I am desperate to find a way to reduce my sleep need hours.

I love NSDR! I generally sleep well at night, so I do it when I feel like I need a nap. It sometimes actually leads to me falling asleep, which is partially the goal anyways!

Do your eyes have to be open and do you look directly at the red light when doing this therapy or does it work by placing it close to your face with eyes closed?

This is a great protocol but my problem lies with my own focus. My mind keeps wandering onto other thoughts and I have to snap back into NSDR. I’ll keep practicing and getting better at this.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: [00:00] Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) is a technique to control your relaxation state and mind. [00:12] NSDR uses specific breathing patterns to slow your heart rate and induce relaxation. [00:27] NSDR helps shift your brain state from thinking and stress to pure sensation and relaxation. [00:55] Prepare for NSDR by sitting or lying down comfortably and closing your eyes. [01:10] Breathe normally throughout the protocol unless instructed otherwise. [01:29] Inhale deeply through your nose or mouth, then fully exhale through pursed lips (repeat 3 times). [02:27] Imagine a spotlight scanning your body, starting with your feet (focus on sensations). [06:02] ‍♀️ Focus on sensations from your back and upper body, inhaling deeply and sinking deeper with each exhale. [06:24] Include your face and head in the spotlight, relaxing your facial muscles and focusing on lengthening exhales. [07:11] Expand the spotlight back down your body, visualizing yourself illuminated within it. [08:04] ✨ Dim the spotlight in your mind's eye and sink deeper with a final deep inhale and exhale. [08:56] Wiggle your toes to reconnect with your body and sense control over your nervous system. [09:14] Make small, deliberate movements to solidify mind-body connection. [09:45] Open your eyes gently, noticing the return of visual information and your control over perception. [10:00] Realize the power of your brain to direct focus and achieve relaxation through NSDR. “Improve focus. Try yoga nidra”. There fixed the title. Why is this guy hell bent on renaming a yoga practice that has been going on from antiquity. First he coins a new term and then completely detaches it from its roots. Wonder why is that 🤔 I dont see one mention of yoga nidra but he conveniently copies the same techique to sell his app.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 *🧘 Non-Sleep Deep Rest Protocol Introduction* - Introduction to the Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) protocol, - Explanation of NSDR's ability to control the relaxation state of the nervous system and overall mental state, - Instructions for posture, eye closure, and normal breathing during the protocol. 02:27 *🌌 Sensory Focus and Breathing Technique* - Guided imagery focusing on sensory perception starting from the feet and moving upward, - Breathing technique: deep inhalation through the nose or mouth followed by complete exhalation through thinly pursed lips, - Emphasis on the relaxation effect of prolonged exhalation on heart rate and nervous system. 06:24 *🧩 Complete Body Relaxation and Mindfulness* - Continuation of sensory focus and breathing technique to encompass the entire body, - Encouragement of mindfulness by relaxing facial muscles and extending exhalation duration, - Demonstration of control over nervous system through subtle body movements during relaxation. I started using a red light therapy panel from Future Form Official in Norway, which my physiotherapist recommended. I’ve been dealing with chronic lower back pain, and after incorporating this red light therapy into my routine, I’ve noticed a significant reduction in pain and stiffness. The panel was reasonably priced, and it’s amazing how much it has improved my quality of life. I’m grateful for all the detailed information shared here - it’s been incredibly helpful in understanding how to use red light therapy effectively. Thank you!

I have used a small two-pronged red light device to pop up my nose twice a day for three minutes which dumbs down the excessive histamine production that causes hay fever. Works like dream for me, I take it with me everywhere in the pollen season. No more dangerous drugs. Amazon sells them. My wife uses a red light device to run over her facial skin which tightens it up instantly and smooths the wrinkles.

You can also - in the morning at sunrise- when there is more of the red spectrum, close your eyes and sway back and forth and enjoy the rays of red and near infrared shining on you face and eyes with the eye lids closed. Free.

Unfortunately it doesn't work for me, I cramp up when I breathe and especially when I breathe in twice there is too much oxygen. In fact, with this exercise I achieve exactly the opposite. No increase in carbon dioxide but rather a reduction. My teeth even start to tingle. I'd rather do buteyko, at least you don't overbreathe. It's also totally relaxing but at least you don't hyperventilate

Does the density of the red light being used make a difference, what nm of red light was used, what distance from the eyes and do you keep the eyes open unless you have the urge to blink? Thank you

FOR ANYONE LOOKING FOR THE BEST OF THE BEST. Look no further than Ally Boothroyd, here on KZbin. I discovered her yoga nidras (NSDR) last year and they have transformed my life. A complete game changer for rejuvenation and renewed energy any time of the day. I highly highly highly recommend checking her out. She has a beautifully wide variety of NSDR’s, and she transmits the energy and essence of the wisdom itself through her voice and presence. Much love 💕
