Have to allow Don a little slack here, Linda retired in 2011, due to progressive supranuclear palsy, which left her unable to sing, she was due to record with Dolly and Emmy Lou on another Trio album..

I've always enjoyed him performing this song. I'd have to give it a 10, but in this subjective world your 9.8 is just fine. Take care...

How could anyone not love this song! A man and his guitar singing with his heart. I can’t listen to this song and not think about my parents and others that have made that trip home!!

Thank you Jason for your wonderful request. It doesn’t get much better than that. I would like to wish Don and all the participants of his channel a wonderful Thanksgiving. May you be surrounded by loving family and friends. At the very least, we all deserve that.

There's some good old songs like that one. Another one by Claude King from 1962 is 'Wolverton Mountain'.

@Jason_House The posse has to make it to Zimbabwe, and not even Sheriff @JCat__ knows which Zimbabwe it is. I am free to room about the country while he roams the private jet @MontaukEd17 is funding to try to catch stellar humans like me.

Thank you Jason for this request of an excellent request by Jamey Johnson. The song was written by Craig Monday & Randy Houser and released by Jamey in 2005. The song explores the concept of death and the desire for a peaceful transition into the afterlife. The song also conveys a sense of acceptance, faith, and longing for a better place beyond the sorrows of the present world. In the first verse, he acknowledges that he has seen his last tomorrow and is holding onto his last breath, indicating that death is imminent. They bid farewell to the "world of sorrow" and believe that their new life will begin with death, suggesting a belief in an afterlife or spiritual realm. The chorus emphasizes his position on a mountain and the ability to hear the angels' song, symbolizing a connection to a higher power. They are reaching over the metaphorical river "Jordon" (a play on the biblical Jordan River, often associated with crossing over into the promised land) and ask the Lord to take their hand and lead them home. This portrays a sense of trust in a divine being to guide them safely to their final destination. In the second verse, he expresses relief that all his burdens are now behind him, having said his final prayer. He then reassure his loved ones not to mourn his physical body because he believes that his true essence will not be confined to it. The repetition of the chorus in the outro reinforces his longing for divine guidance and his desire to be led home. By requesting the Lord to take his hand, he will seek comfort, assurance, and a sense of peace as they embrace the transition into the afterlife. Overall, reflects the acceptance of death and the faith in transcending the hardships of life. It conveys a profound yearning for spiritual solace, deliverance from earthly struggles, and the hope of finding a peaceful home in the afterlife. Thanks Don for your reaction

Thank you countrymusicreb for this great request from Vern. The song was written by Max D. Barnes & Beverly Gosdin and released by Vern in 1985. for those of you that did not know, Vern is from Alabama. In this song I heard characteristics of Merle Haggard and George Jones. You are costing the Montauk Ed Ice Co. a fortune in airfare alone. 🤣🤣Every time I get to Zimbabwe your gone. The up side is, my frequent flyer miles are adding up nicely. 😁😁But our paths will cross someday <evil laugh>. Thanks for your reaction

@jcat__ Airfare? Airfare?!! Wait a minute, the @MontaukEd17 Ice Company (Trademarked) is now using the skies to track down saintly human beings such as myself? Zimbabwe may not be enough....

Another song like this is Alone, also by Vern. It shows where he's at a restaurant table and wonders what it would be like to be alone without the partner. Not sure if you've reacted to that song or not. Alone is from the album by the same name, and that really is a divorce album, after he got divorced in real life.

Never previously heard of Floyd Cramer? Never previously heard Last Date? On the Rebound? San Antonio Rose? Etc.? Etc.? You must have been living under a rock! Every piano player back in the day was attempting to play this slip-note style of playing. It was known as 'the Floyd Cramer Sound' and had never been done before!
@RockN2Country23 сағат бұрын
@sequencerman5 I didn't grow up on country, I came to it much later in life. When Is tarted the channel I was doing Nashville artists, then folks saw how I liked lyrics and stories about life so they began recommending traditional and independent artists, so that's how I got hooked. The rock is lifted!
@sequencerman518 сағат бұрын
@@RockN2Country Better late than never, eh? Good for you! Actually, Floyd Cramer was a proficient pianist even before he came up with the 'slip-note' style of playing. Some of his album tune covers - those that are not 'country-oriented' - display his overall keyboard talents. Anyway, thanks for the response!
