I played part of this for my organ teacher (90 years old, a former student of Anton Heiller and Gustav Leonhardt) and he said Bart Jacobs plays beautifully. High praise. I'm sure we'll be listening to the whole thing soon.

De laatste zin uit dit gezang (Liedboek 978 "Aan U behoort, o Heer der heren, de aarde met haar wel en wee") is zeker van toepassing op deze improvisatie: "Dan is het aardse leven goed, omdat de hemel mij begroet". Dank!

Bravo. Met enorm veel verbazing bekeken en vooral beluisterd dat iemand zoiets al improviserend, compleet met dubbel pedaal uit zijn mouw schudt... niet alleen maar verbijsterend knap maar ronduit zeer verwonderlijk... alsof het uitgeschreven muziek betreft...

So why not this before--I expect--a Nun Komm on two cantabile 8' Flentrop fluits brought together by coupling a best match into the Hauptwerk... with a perfect 16' and 8' principal in the bass. Someone asked here in one of the comments below: "why in socks"? - well, would you expect gloves on the hands while playing on the manuals? - maybe it is done so because the performer feels more sensitivity while playing on the foot-pedals, than with those stern-looking, not smiling, black pointed shoes. Anyway, the listeners in the church don't see the performer's feet, but I do recommend though suit and tie, when he bows (while standing up there) towards the public :) and he did have them, by the way.

Mr. Breugelman plays very nice with a good feeling for each different piece of the Orgelbüchlein! I get high while I listen to this works by JS Bach.

How about some articulation in the manual part? It could also work at a slower tempo - at the tempo it is normally played at it can sound like a buzz and rattle.

Masterly music (Bach), no doubt about it, but the organ plays in a key very far away from the original. That makes a negative difference.

Bach changed the key when he made the harpsichord version "bwv 1062 II andante e piano". I assume that it was better suited to the temperament they had at the time. I don't have the ear to tell whether their organ is in equal temperament or not but if it isn't, then I think it's safe to assume that this organ transcription did the same. If it is equal temperament, then it doesn't really matter, it might just be to make the keying easier which is relevant if you're playing 2 things with your hands and 1 thing with your feet all at the same time.
