Superba calibrare,se vede ca a fost pus la punct de un impatimit maestru.suna mai bine decât sursa...felicitări, jos ,,clopu",ce sa mai zic...SA I dea Dumnezeu sănătate maestrului ,sa o tina tot asa.!!Sărbători fericite și multa sănătate,...SA ne mai încânte cu câte o scula pusa la punct de dansul...toate cele bune!!

Hello sir, I hope you can shade a light in my Yamaha KX1200, it plays well on metal cassette ( typeIV) but not on a chrome or original prerecorded tape . my take is ,I have been investigating why its not playing on prerecorded tape, I noticed that metal tape with hole in the middle is the sensor for type IV , while Type II has none and doesn;t play. I tried a Tape type IV without hole in the center sensor hole , it won;t play either. Have you encountered these type of problem ?

Needs to have pretty much a full mechanical overhaul after all theese years... It s the tape type switches most probably, but only cleaning those would be a hack job

I have a couple of that model too. Unfort they take up more space than other front-loads that are stackable. And it has Sendust Alloy head. Any deck, if it doesn't have a Sendust Alloy head, forget it. Everything else sounds like mud in comparison.

same issue with bias on this one. You can adjust both tone s on meters simultaneously but in this case bias tone was higher than level, if You watch closely i calibrate 2 dots higher than shown on display to achieve proper bias. I cannot compensate that unfortunately so that proper bias is achieved where display indicates :( Try to play around with tone level adj. see if it helps in your case, in this case if i would ve adjusted it so bias tone showed where it should (at the two arrows on meters) level would be 2 dots bellow the arrow when calibrated right.

@ is this a defect that all units have, or only some? Could it be due to the chip deteriorating over time? Do you think it would work if I calibrated the level directly with a 1kHz tone by switching between tape and source, and then calibrated the bias using the deck’s built-in calibration?

@@denisvoltattorni6589Only some units i ve seen this problem in. You can calibrate with 400Hz or 1kHz no problem on deck meters. Be sure to re check level after messing with bias

Automat je na hovno ... navíc volí nízkou úroveň. Kvalitně nahrané to má být do +4 občas bliknout +6.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago. Seller claimed everything worked fine. Upon arrival, deck powered on but transport was not working. I was going to return it but seller offered to sell it for shipping cost, so I paid $50 for it. Took it to a vintage audio repair shop. Unfortunately he is a one man shop and said it would take about 5-6 months before he can get to it, so now I just wait! I did open it in case a belt has come loose during shipping but it looked just fine. Pretty impressed with the built quality of the deck, thus why I decided it is worth having serviced. Cosmetically it is in excellent condition. I do have a KX-330 and really like its “natural” sound.

This device did blow every nakamichiis far out from the bond. A real terminator. I got ADF-770 AiwA,wich is now the no.1 deck in my collection.

nice one, what did yuou do as full restoration? did you open potentiometers and motors? did you clean them inside? did you check bearing on all capstans and motors? did you replace all tactile swithes? did you resolder the board? im just asking as just few people around a world do full restoration, rest is just service.

Mechanism fully dismantled, all motors opened and cleaned brushes/rotors, recapped capstan motor, oiled all bearings, cleaned all contacts on mechanism replaced all switches on front panel. Potentiometers i do not usually open, cleaning with spray did a good job.

I am getting jealous seeing how smooth it is to calibrate Metal and Chrome tapes. It is a bit of pain to calibrate a Type I tape, or at least a Maxell UR 90 tape even though the result is still very impressive. The Level and Azimuth are always easy to adjust, but you can never get the bias to stabilize, you'll always have the the monitor flickering constantly either above or below the calibration mark, and even when you get close it usually screws up the Level. I am yet to test some Sony EF Premium Type I sealed tapes that I have from about just over a decade. Buying a TYpe II or Type IV tape is a significant investment, and I literally bought a stack of DATs a few months back for the price of a couple of Metal tapes! This is crazy!

@@kaminobatto I ve had the chance to use it for a few months. It s pretty stable even on type i tapes, but the slightest ammount of dirt in the tapepath makes it be all over the place

@@RDM-CassetteDeckRepairs And for this particular model, Nakamichi figured "why the heck do we need to seal the tape mechanism? Let's just keep it open!"... Ummm... I guess Japan doesn't have dust like the rest of the world...🤷‍♂️... In any case, I had it cleaned with a head cleaner but it still didn't manage to lock the bias in place. I'll see if I get a better result with the Sony EF.

@@kaminobatto a full overhaul is neccesarry. I dismantled it into bits (see fb page), new grease everywhere, realigned everything, guides, head tilt, head stroke, height, azimuth + everything electronically

@@kaminobatto should be rock solid on most tapes, beauty of highend machines is beeing able to record on sub par tapes decently

@@RDM-CassetteDeckRepairs I already got mine serviced at two different shops for this reason, but couldn't get there still. I'm guessing from what you're sharing that they might not be doing enough adjustments. But these shops happen to be the best in my region and I always use their services for my older audio equipment. I've seen them work on Dragons which are known to be very finicky and other ZX-9s, and I had nothing but positive experiences with them over the years. In any case, I am taking it back if the Sony ends up having the same calibration issue.
