Video summary -- Subvocalization We don’t need to subvocalize a word to understand it. If you subvocalize, your reading speed will match your speaking speed, not your thinking speed. Solutions for Subvocalization -- How to fix Subvocalization Increase reading speed Place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth Chew gum Play instrumental music in the background to reduce subvocalization.The background sound should not be too loud to distract you,but not too quiet to let you lose focus During the first reading,even if comprehension decreases,try to read as fast as possible,then re-read at a comfortable speed for complete understanding -- Peripheral Vision Draw a vertical line to the right of the leftmost word and the rightmost word on the open book. Three Column Method: Divide the page into three parts and only read the middle part of each section. Pacer Method: Use a finger or pencil to guide your eyes by moving it smoothly from left to right under the text - Regression Regression, also known as backskipping When regression does not occur, your reading speed increases by 30%, as inexperienced readers spend 30% of their reading time regressing Solutions for Regression -- How to fix Regression Visual Pacer,use your finger or a pen put under the word you need to read as glide to the right side, to guide your eye Gliding: Use a credit card or another card and slide it to the right below the text you are reading Visualization Read as if you’re teaching someone

It’s quite interesting because based on different research speed reading doesn’t exist.

Jesus, you'd think that these people who read so much would have more valuable things to do with their time than tell you about how they read so much... Seriously, don't read for the sake of reading; that's the trap so many of these self-help gurus will pull you into. Read what you need to and then what you're interested in and then a little bit more, but don't read just because. You don't become an excellent programmer by reading. You do it by reading a bit and programming a lot. You don't become an excellent musician by reading. You do it by reading a bit and practicing a lot. There is no useful profession on earth where you need to or even should consume an ungodly amount of books short of a researcher--I mean, duh, it's in the title--and even then the reading is specifically oriented towards the goal of writing some new book or paper which fits well into the established literature. It not for the vague goal of "learning more," but for the specific goal of "learning more about x so I can proper think about/do y." My apologies, I don't mean to rant, but before you go listening to people like this, just consider the following: life is not a game of who can make themselves into the longest encyclopedia. If you want to solve a problem or learn about an issue, do it, and do all the reading attendant upon your aims. But most of my friends who are "speed readers" waste their lives reading three to four new bro-science self-help books every week which are full of some mixture of useless, inaccurate, and obvious information.

there's an awful lot of books to be read in a vanishingly small time; you also don't seem to be taking into account fictional novels.

I am trying those techniques the only one that I'm having problems is with 11:45 read multiple lines at the time, I just can't comprend. Have you tried?
@XBeings2 жыл бұрын
If you have enough familiarity with the language you're reading in, and able to apply all techniques (and getting the results) then the next thing would be this, multiple lines.... (Comprehension has alot to do with language, or simply, how easy the text is to read), I hope the text you're reading is in your native language or grab the dictionary😄
@XBeings2 жыл бұрын
And yeah.... It definitely is hard because our brain needs to connect information sentence by a follow up sentence, (reading multiple lines + understanding, yep! you got to train your brain with this extra process)
