I would sympathise with this lecturer's plight - on the surface a very human tale. How can a lecturer not have better understanding of the role that the Israel lobby is playing in the disruption and usurping of UK democracy - i find it difficult to believe. If you question Israeli's right to exist you must then question the same for the country of Jordan, as they were created at the same time in the same process. 3. When a country defends their sovereignty they have to legal right to retain land they conquered. 4. Israel cannot be occupying a land that they already have legal rights to. 5. The UN had never protested conquered land from possessed from any war.

Regarding the girl students question: Israel is not treated differently, not especially in a "disadvantageous manner". But, it would not ensure piece by any other means. I am from Turkey by the way and for the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" situation. Most of its citizens consider themselves as a separate county and do not like the idea of the "Main land Turkey subsidizing them" though they enjoy the benefits, they hate the image. This is how it works anyway, at a stage of history, they feel like an extension of you, then over time they gain self identity. Maybe 200 years from now, Palestinians living in the regions where Israel have authority will feel like true Israel citizens and they hate the idea of a Palestinian government, who knows?
