I like that bale trailer. Very sturdy and well engineered, yet not too heavy. And no need for unhooking and using a loader. I can't imagine a Wilson or a keltec behind the 390T!! You'd want +150hp to comfortably work one of those l'd imagine.
@farmerwillmellor5106 күн бұрын
Thanks Philip we really like it aswell! I’ve seen small Wilson or Keltec like a 6 or 8 bale that a 390t could handle that I’d definitely like to try one day maybe but yeah those big ones that are about would definitely need a big tractor!

Good video the 390t pulls the big tanker really well I agree with you about the splash plate I think it's quicker to empty the tanker than a dribble bar too
@farmerwillmellor5106 күн бұрын

Good to get the slurry out when theres a chance of rain 🌧️🌧️ noticed the 390 having to work a bit harder when it was catching a hold of the thick crust do the tractor world of good getting the carbon burnt out 💪💪 👍

That decision really been forced on you Will hope hes a success 🤞👍 nice to hear you are giving the other bull a chance to recover and not just send him to slaughter 🙄 think the wiring on either the livestock trailer or the tractor needs some attention 🤔🤣
@farmerwillmellor5106 күн бұрын
Thanks Bob! Yeah there’s definitely something fishy about the lights on the cattle trailer, there’s a bulb out on the grill on dipped beam on the tractor but it definitely something wrong the way none of the lights on one side of the trailer were working 🤔🤔 I’ll have to investigate it 👍

Good video Will 👍 regardless of how the fields slope pretty poor show on the baler drivers part dropping bales to end up on unbaled swathes🙄 really like that bale trailer 👌 hope you don't get any more rain ☔☔👍
@jamesmellor86425 күн бұрын
I’m the baler driver and the reason I turn some bales towards the swathes is that the swathes stop the bales rolling away and act like a speed bump, I don’t do it if no one is carting but since we bale and cart them at the same time it makes sense to play it safe rather than end up doing some walling and the fields we were baling in this video had a biggish drop at the bottom onto a road

390 looks to be managing the mower well there will. Lol, a lot would have 200hp on that🤣 Noticed that you still have the swing out rods that hold the door open a jar very handy feature that not many used or knew what they were for so just let them fall off and become lost

Love the videos. You are giving yourself the best chance to make money running older kit. No big repayments. I’m in the west of Ireland. 25 years ago our contractor baled with a 399. I know farmers with 1/4 of the land and bales you have and they have brand new 200+ hp tractors baling. No need for it. And the 399 is probably more reliable. I loved the video of the 390T on the 2250 tank! If you were seen doing that around here you’d probably get arrested😄 how do you manage with narrow and almost bald tyres on all your tractors?😄keep up the good work and more tractor walk around please👍
@farmerwillmellor510Ай бұрын
Thanks Darren! That’s exactly it we don’t have any big monthly payments going out on fancy new equipment! And yeah tbh I don’t know how long it’ll be until the 390T gets some fresh boots hopefully not too long but its rarely noticeable as it still performs well especially on the 2250 tanker!

Good old 390T 💪 they punch well above their weight, and used surprisingly little diesel. Is the 399 in for repair
@farmerwillmellor510Ай бұрын
It definitely does I’d be surprised if a modern 90hp could keep up with it and still use as little amount of diesel! And no the 399 is in perfect health currently, it’s still hooked up to the baler it was just that I’d been using the 390T for fertiliser spreading and the fertiliser spreader needed to come off and the baler is more of a task and is needed again sooner
@philiptyndall4968Ай бұрын
Gone back to baled silage this year after about 6 years mostly pit silage. Changed our baler and wrapper for a fusion 2 last year which has made doing them ourselves again a lot more doable Pit is awful handy to feed out from but like you said it’s a big bill every year to put it in a pit
@farmerwillmellor510Ай бұрын
Bet you soon get it done with a Fusion! And yes I see all these with out silage and I’m definitely sure they get more waste than we do with bales!

@farmerwillmellor510Ай бұрын
Well spotted Bob!😂 The latch broke that was holding it shut so it had to come off for a couple days for it to get welded up 👍
@bobpaterson1845Ай бұрын
Good video Will 👍 to be honest don't really see any problem pulling the tanker with the 390T as long as the brakes on the tanker work and your not on steep grassland that could cause a run away 🤔 nice to see the 390 getting a bit of a work out on the pump 💪💪
@farmerwillmellor510Ай бұрын
Thanks Bob! Tbh it could do with new tyres at some point soon as they’d really help if it did run away!
