Good video Will 👍 totally agree about keeping equipment clean to help with routine maintenance 👌 but maybe my OCD but i absolutely hated a dirty cab to the extent i collected cardboard boxes from supermarkets and had a template cut fitting the cab floor and it got changed once a week during winter when we were at slurry or muck spreading and taken out altogether during summer months unless spreading slurry 🙄🤣🤣👍

Good video Will 👍 was expecting to see you reversing much further in to the lagoon and blasting the slurry into the thick crust at the back wall 💪👍
@farmerwillmellor5102 күн бұрын
Thanks Bob! I’ve done that before to be fair, but the 399 struggles to hold the tanker on the ramp and when it’s full pulling you backwards in it can really scare you when you can’t stop!🙈
@bobpaterson18452 күн бұрын
Put weights on the tractor get more grip 💪,,, wait a minute have I said that before 🤔😳🤣🤣🤣 doesn't the tanker brakes help you back 🤔👍

Good morning, Will. I used to watch a dairy farmer in the States. He has the same type of slurry pit. He used an excavator to deal with the crust. Dug out the crust and put it on the muck heap. He was dealing with - 20 winters. 👍
@farmerwillmellor5103 күн бұрын
Good morning Lee! Wow it’s bad enough dealing with it in these conditions never mind at -20!
@user-pq2zg6pn2h3 күн бұрын
Thanks I thought it was only my cows that pooped in the parlour. Most dairy youtubers don't show it 👍
@farmerwillmellor5103 күн бұрын
After watching a few other dairy farmer KZbinrs I honestly believed it was just mine that popped in the parlour…I honestly thought I was really unlucky!

Good to see Izzy out helping Will she always seems to be smiling 😁 noticed your parlour has a rail below the rump rail ours didn't and had a few painful incidents because it gave the animals a clear route to hit you with their feet if they felt like it 🙄😕 got a broken nose 👃 and a cracked cheek bone 😬 best parlour ever worked was a rotary as you stood directly behind the cow and even if they kicked their legs went past either side of you 👌
@farmerwillmellor5103 күн бұрын
She’s a god send Bob! Yes it does help I think having a double rump rail, cow kicks are the worst! I’ve was badly kicked in the jaw a couple years back, hurt initially but then later that day while I was eating dinner it locked open in so much pain and even when I got to a+e they didn’t really know to unlock my jaw, was very scary! Definitely don’t want that happening again! Yes rotary’s are very popular with larger herds aren’t they!

@farmerwillmellor51015 күн бұрын
Thanks Bob! I just hope we don’t get too much of this sort of weather then we cope so much better, since it started to thaw we’ve had a 20 degree temperature difference in a couple of days, calves haven’t coped well with that temperature fluctuating:(
@leeforeman365617 күн бұрын
Good evening Will. There's not enough hours in the day when things go wrong or a Dairy farm. I watch some Canadian farmers on KZbin. They have heated water troughs, it's a bit like having a kettle on low boil all the time. Its essential there when it's - 40. 👍
@farmerwillmellor51015 күн бұрын
Good evening Lee! You got it in one there! Definitely not enough hours in the day! Yes I’ve heard of candian farmers having heated water troughs before…hopefully they will never be a need for them over here and we don’t have too much of this weather!
