Hi everyone, would any other contact cleaner do the same job?
@FrankPapadakis
@FrankPapadakis 19 күн бұрын
Sometimes cleaning residue will attract dust faster making your switches sticky again, and probably faster than the 1st time. I would suggest using a contact cleaner in an aerosol can. It's designed for this kind of an application. Part of the problem you have is dirty contacts on the switches which just getting wet wont do much, you want the cleaning solution plus some air movement to create a mechanical cleaning action on the switch contacts. Another thing you could try is a air duster in a can with this cleaning solution, or use your current cleaning solution and a vacuum. Then when you need more cleaner get contact cleaner instead for this kind of application.

Side effects are generally mild and may include perception of the amp being changing by amp placement, time of month, alignment of stars, color of guitar and blood caffeine levels. Other mild symptoms may include headache, anal leakage, bleeding and death. If you experience an (________) lasting more than 4 hours please ...............

Nice video, I like these technical analyses. I'm in the process of feeding my pedal board directly into the power amp, to get rid of the additional gain staging noise from the preamp and effects block. Btw the main reason for the difference between fx return and power amp in, is that the fx return still passes thru the katana fx block whereas the power amp in doesnt. Even with all effects turned off, I imagine it will still affect the signal to some degree

Thanks again for sharing your video of the process. I left it open and used a dropper to flood with deoxit 4 times over the course of a day. I didn't bother with masking tape. It helped a bit on my helix, but the worst switch (mode) is still pretty flaky. I'll probably try soldering in new switches if I can find the right ones.

Many thanks this is a very useful video, did the repair this morning, given 3 foot switches were bouncing and unusable My Helix dates back to 2016 and well out of warranty, so not an awful lot to lose. I took the time to tape up switch regions as well and used a electrical contact cleaner spray from Amazon. Hints =---= 1). Take a photo before disassembly. 2). Loosen all screws 2 turns before going back taking them out. 3). When putting the screws back in, do not tighten before all screws are in place. 4). Be careful around those two units on either side of the switches, they are the LED's. This cured the problem for the time being..... Look forward to playing every day for the next 8 years.

I’ve been gigging and cranking mine since 2015. Recently I decided to buy a small interface for running a guitar and mic into Logic Pro X and realized the Helix also does that job with no problem. When you factor in everything the Helix does, it’s by far the most inexpensive musical product I’ve ever bought.

Hi, I have a helix floor with this problem: it loses the input signal, the signal goes in fits and starts, the symbol on the input display flashes red, then it starts working again for a while, sometimes it works for hours and then repeats the problem. Lately it also crashes, meaning the large display turns off and all the small displays start flashing. What could it be? I was thinking about the power supply, thanks for any response
@alex-kenivel
@alex-kenivel Жыл бұрын
okay, sounds like two separate issues. Input issue-- try different cables. Try those cables in something other than Helix to rule out the cables. Crashing issue - those can usually be remedied by reinstalling the current firmware and following the instructions to the T: Make a backup, reflash (reinstall) firmware, factory reset, reload backup, power cycle off/on again to finally rebuild presets. Hope these help. Feel free to get back to me if not.

@@alex-kenivel Thanks for the reply, so the pedalboard, as I wrote, works very well and has been updated, everything is fine but every now and then it crashes, everything flashes like a Christmas tree, then after an hour of turning it off and on again it starts playing again. I don't want there to be capacitor problems on the power supply board
@alex-kenivel
@alex-kenivel Жыл бұрын
@@Moreno280161 I still recommend reflashing the current firmware even if it is up to date, most problems like this tend to go away after a firmware flash with the proper steps. I'm almost certain it isn't a hardware issue or the problems would be more consistent.

A great tool is the gumtown Floorboard. It allows you to create custom Chains, so you can put any effect in any location. The other thing it has, aside from all the ‘sneaky’ amps, is hundreds of preconfigured patches. I’m loving this amp

I think it also has some extra parameters for some of the FX too. It's been a while since I've used it. Maybe I didn't take the time to learn it properly but I found it unintuitive and confusing. I enjoy the Librarian app because Tone Studio itself is often slow
@jbognap
@jbognap 10 ай бұрын
There is also the Katana Librarian for Android. Access to two EQ blocks, without having to use up the Mod or Fx blocks. Another tip is to use a looper and loop a guitar riff into the amp. That way, you can tweak away without having to play (until your final tweaks for feel and response).
