In the very first picture I saw Dr Stern who came to teach us in 1974 from University of Reading (pronounced as Redding). He taught statistics and also introduced electric calculators. He conducted a statistical experiment to see whether (maneoc) cassava starch could be substituted to local bread because there was a shortage of wheat flour at that time. I am grateful to Late Professor Samaranayaka and mention him with great honour who introduced FORTRAN IV programming to us. We were fortunate to have him as the first or second batch to whom programming was a course in the Maths Department. Amusing to mention that he taught simultaneous equations to the arts faculty students. It is because of him that I chose computers as my profession - programmers, systems analysts and data processing managers were the key positions in the computer field at that time.

Its crazy to think that the device i am watching this video on, is thousands of times more powerful than all these computers combined, yet i am holding it on my hand

The Computing History Museum at UCSC stands as a testament to the remarkable journey of computing in Sri Lanka. It serves as a poignant reminder of the University of Colombo's pioneering role in this field, showcasing over half a century of technological advancements. Within its walls, we witness the evolution of computing machinery, tracing its roots to the early days when these machines first began to empower higher education in the country. The museum not only preserves valuable artifacts but also tells the story of innovation, dedication, and the visionaries who shaped the digital landscape of Sri Lanka. This museum is more than just a collection of old machines; it's a living archive of knowledge, a source of inspiration for future generations of computer scientists and technologists. It reminds us of the profound impact of computing on society and encourages us to continue pushing the boundaries of what's possible. In essence, the Computing History Museum at UCSC is a tribute to the past, a celebration of the present, and a beacon of hope for the future of computing in Sri Lanka.
I watched this video and i am from faculty of computing in SLIIT UNIVERSITY. it is a great work and also i think SLIIT UNI should get some inspiration from this content and to build a computer museum greater than like this.....

ask them to build a proper curriculum to their students first, then we can think about building museums
