How lovely seeing you working with your son. Teaching your boy to be man is your calling. Your son should appreciate having a lovely dad. Unfortunately, my sons lost his dad when they were little and no male figure in the house, although I am trying my best. God bless your family and Happy New Year.

Thank you! It's truly a blessing to work with my son. I'm sure your son appreciates all of your efforts. I lost my dad about a decade ago and that has taught me to cherish every minute I can have with all of my kids. God bless!

As a dairy farmer and the stresses that go with that deer season is for my mental health. Cows are milked, feed and bedded to heck with the rest I'm headed to the woods in November!!

Foundation or base work isn't my favorite because it's slow but it's the most important. I've never tried the charing method been but I've seen you and several other guys use it so I'd like to give it a try at some point.
@aquietcatholic29 күн бұрын
It's worked well so far. I've seen guys use propane torches to do it, but it's seems like a waste especially if you already have a fire going for warmth!

I appreciate the image of God talk. I can relate. Looks like I've got some catching up to do on videos. I'm tempted to jump you the most recent one but i won't. It's great to see your journey.

Yes, the charring of wood is called Shou Sugi Ban. Thanks for your insights.
@elizabethturel78Ай бұрын
Sorry, I must have missed what you are doing. You are charring the wood to waterproof it? You are putting them on skids to make a foundation for some structure for your property?
@aquietcatholicАй бұрын
That's correct! Charring the wood helps preserve it. It's an ancient Japanese technique. They will support skids that are the foundation for an off grid cabin in the woods. Along with building, I share some thoughts on faith and mental health. Check out some of my other videos!

You’re a good man. Regarding hunting: not my thing, I would if I HAD to. For one thing, I don’t like deer meat or elk meat or for that matter goat meat! However, I do like fish! Just pointing out, it takes patience to fish too. Glad you had a good bonding time with your son. God Bless you too🙏🏻

The image of a father (or any parent) is refined by truth, consequences, and relational impact. Some day, you may refer back to this experience for him to remind him (or others) of forgiveness, second chances, making things right, etc. The fact that he has a memory of this may actually be good for him (and you) in ways that are yet unknown. If fallible parents (all of us!) were as introspective as you are over missteps, our culture may have a few things preventatively solved. We all fall down. You are commended on getting back up and going back to work. Thanks for sharing this and Keep it rolling bro!

Yes i agree. It's shows the importance of nature. Also in many many important events of the Bible animals were present. Both were and are important to Him.

You're right, the struggle is real and you know if your were perfect i couldn't watch this channel. I'm self employed and I don't have to leave my property. With the stress and anxiety i found myself drinking anytime of day. I recently turning the big five O. I've limited myself to only having a drink on Friday and Saturday night and I may quit altogether. My stress and anxiety comes out in anger and flat out, all i see is red, rage. I began therapy and never had a secession without a drink in my hand... at 9:30 in the morning, it's 5 o'clock somewhere right? We'll i ended up stopping therapy and because of you i reached back out to a Catholic therapist, thru that website, in my area and I'm starting back up. I probably wouldn't have done that without that previous video and for that i thank you. Furthermore you're not alone with having work to do with your wife and kids. From Matt to Matt yeah the struggle is real and will be until He calls us home. Keep your head up and your knees bent.

Hey, I’m your mother’s age, I’m Catholic. Your video popped up in my feed. You are doing a good thing. I hope you can help some good men silently struggling. Women have these problems too, but are generally able to talk about them more than men. I have 2 wonderful sons that struggle just with life’s problems, very Catholic. I’m always there to listen. I respect their opinions, always have. Their Dad, not so much. However, there have been good men in their lives. They make the difference. Doesn’t have to be a relative. I support my friends and they support me. At my age I have decided not to continue friendships with people who are negative. There are those people in our lives who stress us; there is no need for it. Mostly narcissists😳 Some we can just not return calls, but relatives have to be dealt with differently. Most people have insecurities. I am so glad you are reaching out. Best wishes to you all. You deserve to feel good about yourself and your life. Forgive yourself, if that’s what it is. If you’ve had trauma and it’s now affecting your life, I know it’s hard to admit, but for everyone who loves you, see a professional, even a G.P. could subscribe something temporarily until you see a counselor. 👍🏻

Thank you so much for your comment! You are right, we all have our struggles and it's up to us to face them. Thankfully, as Catholics, we know that we have a host of Saints praying for us before God's throne. I know that is comforting to me when I'm struggling. God bless!

I bought a sawmill years before I bought the dairy farm. I had it set up at my parents place. I was having a particularly bad day and my dad came up to see me. At 30 something I started to cry and I said, "Dad, I'd gladly go thru the hell you went thru in Vietnam to be the man you are today." "Oh stop that. I'm nothing special.", he replied. I said, "Dad, nothing bothers you." I'll never forget his response. "I've seen bad and son, you've got it made." I'm so thankful for my dad and the example he was/is for me. Another time i was struggling with the thought of being forgiven and a dear pastor from away was visiting me at the mill and he said speaking of God, "You mean to tell me my Son dying for your sin isn't good enough for you?!" I'm so thankful for my earthly father, my spiritual father and my heavenly father. I love seeing the progress. Keep it up.

Thanks for sharing those stories! What great lessons...I think it's important to take time to thank the Lord for the people He blesses us with. I know I'm much more likely to complain than be grateful. Thanks for the encouragement!

I'm a 49 yr old Christian husband, father, brand new grandfather, dairy farmer & perfectionist. I deal with animals, markets, machinery, the weather and family. My stress comes out in anger. I, like you, white knuckle it until that one event and I blow up and may God help the people near by. My wife helped me realized I was ruining the most important thing in my life, next to my salvation, my family. It took everything in me to make that call but I've been in anger management therapy for almost 2 months now. I need to realize nothing in this world will be perfect, work on rebuilding family ties and make "self-care" a priority like you. I can relate to everything your saying. You're not alone in this and hearing your story helps me to know I'm not alone either. Thanks for posting your story.
@aquietcatholic7 ай бұрын
That take a ton of courage! I’ve dealt with anger myself. It’s the only emotion society “allows” men to have and it’s been devastating to many men and their families in the wake. I’m very proud of you for fighting this battle for yourself and your family. Prayers brother!
