Hi. I was following your tutorial, but the meshing didn't go as planned. I even get an error during Data Check: "The volume of 38 elements is zero, small, or negative." Are there any other options that should be checked when meshing and were not mentioned in the video? The issue seems to be with the RHS 150x100x5 Part. I temp fixed it by changing Approximate global size in Global Seeds and remeshing. But since I'm a beginner with Abaqus, some suggestions would be much appreciated.
@elena-laurabuhan60814 жыл бұрын
@@xindeng4107 I refined the mesh of the RHS part and then I switched master and slave surfaces, otherwise you get a warning when you do a Data Check / run your analysis (because the master shouldn't have a finer mesh than the slave).

@@elena-laurabuhan6081 Hi Elena-Laura! I got the same warning! What do you mean by refine the mesh of the RHS?

@@adesilva1376 Hi, I went back to my model and I see that I assigned a global mesh control of 5. That did the trick for me. I think because no seeds were assigned to the edges from the middle partition, those use the global seeds and the default that I had was too big (25).

It's a very helpful video, thank you. I have one question about the huge difference between the modal dynamics and the implicit dynamics, can you tackle that.

hello bro..wanna ask..do you have any email for me to contact you? because Im in process to create a model for bolted moment connection..please I wanna ask some questions and I can pay for your tutorials..
Restraining the side face of the column may be a poor choice, it may not replicate the actual scenario

Hi ya, do you know how to renumber the mesh? I have a thinplate with a hole in the middle. I need to renumber the mesh increasing from left to right instead of randomly distributed number for post processing purposes. But when i go to mesh>edit>nodes> renumber, there's an error saying that this operation couldnt be done on part with geometry

Hi Pedro, Thank you for uploading the video. I have followed your video and I've successfully modeled an I beam connected to a hollow section column. I did have some warning which made the job to be aborted, therefore I could not obtain any results. Can you please help with the errors below which I received from Abaqus: Slave node 11 instance part-3-1 will not be tied to the master surface assembly_m_surf-1. The distance from the master surface is greater than the position tolerance value. Slave node 12 instance part-3-1 will not be tied to the master surface assembly_m_surf-1. The distance from the master surface is greater than the position tolerance value.

thank you very much, it is very helpful, but why the rigid body used betwin RP and cross section, and did not use kinematic coupling, my email is [email protected], thanks again
@pedromartins94979 жыл бұрын
Hello Attia, I'm grateful for your feedback! Concerning your question, the kinematic coupling constraints are useful in cases where a large number of nodes are constrained to the rigid body motion of a single node and the degrees of freedom that participate in the constraint are selected individually in a local coordinate system. So, you can use kinematic coupling between the RP and cross section or Rigid Body simulation in these kind of problems, because the behavior between the nodes will be the same. In my case, I wanted to approach as much as possible my numerical model to the experimental tests, but it will always depend on what you want to perform. I hope my answer elucidates you to proceed with your problem.
