I’m not a native speaker. I just started learning Chinese on my own three months ago. But I can tell your pronunciation and tones are very good! Do you know of any communities where people like me can practice speaking?

Yes, I do have such community where we meet every Saturday 13:15-14:15(GMT+1) and hold conversations in Chinese. We have members from all over the world and it is usually an exciting time with them.

Do you mean can you improve your listening and speaking skills by preparing for the hskk *exam*?
@eboadel687Ай бұрын
@@labake6657 yes
@labake6657Ай бұрын
Well, it can help you to some extent, but a consistent listening and speaking practice would also help, and would be better. You can prepare for the exam, do well and go back to how you were before the exam. So except you need to write the exam, I don’t suggest you take the exam just for the purpose of improving your listening and speaking. You can improve your listening by consistently listening and speaking by listening more and doing mimicking, shadowing and paraphrasing practice.

You are marvellous and speak well in Chinese Mandarin. I am an overseas Chinese from the Republic of Singapore. I learn Chinese Mandarin through attending Church Mandarin services and reading Chinese Bibles. I learn Chinese Mandarin through a difficult path by using colour strokes. From discovery the ancient Chinese character of provides a clue to the ancient Chinese worshipping the only one God. The ancient Chinese called SangTing- The Heavenly God which is similar to the Jewish worship. Cheers and delight from potential Dr Henry Khoo, Republic of Singapore.

Thank you for your kind words. You did learn through a difficult path. It’s amazing how you didn’t give up. I believe your story further emphasises what I always tell my students “Learning with a goal in mind and practicing with what you are interested in keeps you going when things get tough.” Thank you for sharing your story. Cheers. And I wish you the very best in your doctorate.

@@labake6657 It's interesting because ever since I first saw the volume of Chinese influence in Africa in Sudan in 2011, I understood that a battle was being waged on a global scale. I thought to myself then, and have adhered to the thought, that the Sudanese referendum was, in part, wrought about to hamper the increasing Chinese influence in the region. However I have not been hearing too much about the Sino-African relations on individual country basis. Just bits and pieces that have pointed to a very strong, solidarity-based cultural exchange and economic investment from the Chinese side to the African continent. It is really fascinating to hear so many Africans speak fluent Chinese. Give 50 years, Africa will rise to become a global powerhouse. I look forward to more of your content.
@labake66572 ай бұрын
It is indeed interesting to see the changes happening. There have been lots of talks on whether the “exchange and cooperation” are “win-win cooperations” as they are painted. Based on the happenings in the most recent Africa-China large scale communication at FOCAC, it became apparent that China is willing at all costs to continue to tap into the abundance in Africa. Although welcoming, Africa still has unanswered concerns like the issues of Debt and skills transfer/exchange to Africans in Africa. I read and listened to different analysts talk about this and what I have decided to go with is, “wait and see” and enlighten myself and those around me to know what is going on exactly. Language exchange is playing a very crucial role in these cooperations. At the moment, we still have Chinese citizens interpreting for African leaders when they go to China. We all know that no Chinese citizen would protect the interests of any other nation other than theirs. Hence, there is a need for more skilled African language service providers who can take those positions and protect our interests by actually reading and understanding the nitty gritty in these MoUs and Agreements our political and business leaders sign.
