I'm curious about the effect of a incapacitated passenger seating in the exit row during an evacuation. Even in a normal exit row this would slow down evacuation. But this design would force people to climb over the incapacitated passenger.

As a former wheelchair user I can't see this working. He sat on one seat and moved across to the other. A wheelchair would put the user well ahead of the chair.

*PLEASE YOU HEARD THIS HERE FIRST* Airlines are stoopid! They have 1000s of TV screens on aircraft, even in economy, that cost a fortune and l have never had ONE work the way it should. And yet we ALL carry mobile phones. Why can't they just send the TV message/progress maps/movie to your _phone_ via WiFi and, of course, we need a charging socket in the seat too - for airline that don't - ALSO an ipad to hire if you leave yours at home. all these "innovative" seat designs are designed to increase passenger space in economy and increase buss/1st seating room but hope it isn't done to the point that "best worst" seating wins out
