I enjoy Dr. Monroe and have learned so much from him, but he is incorrect on this matter. The OT is not irrelevant. He quotes Matthew 5, but he doesn't quote all the verses that tell you that the law is still in effect. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven To say thar the OT is no longer needed negates the fact that many of Daniel's prophesies have yet to be fulfilled. Furthermore to fulfill means to carry out, realize or to achieve. Synonyms for fulfill are to accomplish, achieve, execute, and perform. None of these words means to do away with. The NT doesn't exist until 150-200 years after Jesus died. The only scriptures He taught from were the OT. Furthermore, Jesus was a Jew so he would've had to have been obedient to the Law of Moses, or He would not have been a perfect, sinless sacrifice to assume for or sins.
