This was meant to be played constantly in a cathedral or some similar space, like musical chants that play 24/7 via loudspeakers inside and outside certain Buddhist temples.

BTW, I do think the more musically interesting, melodic groovy genres of electronic dance music will make a big comeback soon enough. There's only so much shitty dark dissonant techno house dumbstep EDM that people can handle. I don't know why the crap became the most popular. But then there's a lot of generic tracks in every genre.

First truly ambient music was this from the late 80's on a Public Radio show, Hearts of Space. Loved it over 30 years. This painting doesn't connect at all for me. The announcers suggested "Traveling through space.". The program came on late at night.
