If you add a gas or electric motor than you do need to register it. I got all my materials from Home Depot for the numbers. I cut 2 strips from a yard sale sign, stuck on numbers, and fully taped it over to make it waterproof then hang them over the side when I go out on the water.

I actually work directly for Sea Eagle and use many of their boats and kayaks. They hold up great against the intense sun in Florida but just like a car to keep the material healthy and in good shape 303 aerospace protectant is must. We plan on doing another video soon showing how it handles out in the Gulf of Mexico. We'll try and do it on a choppy day so we can really show it's performance. As long as the boat is balanced correctly with the gas tank moved towards the front it handles great from my experience.

For larger patches we absolutely would sand the area for better adhesion however with such a small patch it is not completely necessary.

The transom is made out of sealed marine plywood, you could mount a flag on the back if you like. Id just recommend sealing it properly. They do also make suction cup flag pole holders for the top of the outboard motor as well.

Yes, sometimes less air is definitely better. The soapy water method is the best way to find the leak, you can also mix up a soapy water solution is a spray bottle and search for it that way.

We are working with Sea Eagle to develop a system to mount a trolling motor. We will keep you posted.

One of the great features of the FastCat 12 is that it comes with keel guards to protect the bottom when pulling up to the beach. If you are looking for something more portable the Paddleski is easy to inflate and transport and is also very stable. However the Fastcat 12 does offer even more stability when offshore with more room to move around.

A trailer would need to be purchased separately if you are planning to keep the boat inflated. We recommend the Continental A1412 with bunk risers.

I just ordered my FastCat and an EPropulsion 3.0 with lithium battery. When I get it I’ll post results. The boat dealer doesn’t seek engines but promised it would be an awesome pairing. Quiet, and do 8mph tops but you go way longer at 5mph. The EPropulsionn guy doesn’t sell boats but told me the FastCat 14 is a great choice for that electric motor. You can Google EPropulsion and see the batteries and charger you buy separately. My battery is their E60. It’s two grand alone. I’m into this boat and motor nine grand. grand.

Even with the larger 6HP I don't think these smaller motors have enough torque to pull someone out of the water. It also may be too much stress on the transom. We recommend the Continental A1412. The bunks can be raised high enough so the boat sits over the wheel wells. Added guide posts also help centering the boat.

We have tested it in windy conditions in the Gulf and it performed great. Since it is a lighter boat you do need to make sure there is some weight in the boat to minimize bouncing. If you do that it works well in chop.

Absolutely! This being a wide catamaran it is very easy to stand up and walk around on as well as cast and fish.

Great question! It handles very well actually especially with some extra weight in the boat. We have gone out in some heavier chop in the Gulf and moving the coolers forward made for a much smoother ride as it held the bow and the wives tended to want to flow under the boat since it is a catamaran style boat.

I read a couple complaints that in a year the transom gets weak and flimsy. Have you heard this complaint or do you think they overloaded the transom with a heavy outboard. Mine is about 125 pound EPropulsion 3.0

Tohatsu's are excellent outboards, we always recommend them when upgrading the motor on the FS 14.

It is rated for up to 6hp outboard. I wouldn't recommend going higher as this could cause damage to the transom

It is absolutely safe! Being a catamaran style boat at 4'8" wide it is very stable and can handle climbing in from the sides.

A 15" shaft outboard up to 75lbs is recommended for this boat. If you are experiencing cavitation from the lighter weight motor I would recommend a hydrofoil stabilizer (also called a dolphin) for your outboard as long as it still allows full range of motion for the outboard.

@@BornSaltyCo My Mercury 3.5 is a 15" shaft. There is only one stabilizer available for the Mercury 3.5 that I can find, sold in Australia for $120 ! I may do it, but it seems excessive. Thank you.

There are a few ways to mount fish finders and transducers on this boat. Please send us and email at [email protected] and we can go through the options. An option for a forward mounted trolling motor is in the works.

The FastCat 14 is extremely stable and can definitely handle california beaches with the protective keel guards on the bottom of each side pontoon. However I would recommend calmer waters as it sits lower to the water and can take on waves if the seas are rough.
