Replacement license plates. The original would have been black characters on yellow with three letters and then three numbers unless it was late 1969. In that case, it would have been yellow on blue with three numbers and three letters. My 1970 BMW 2002 got about 22 MPG

The slant nose was the way to go on these. Although ive grown to appreciate the original design in my old age I always hated the horizontal body flow into the headlights from the side profile.
