Hi Colley. Lovely scene. Staithes is so pictuesque and I hope to go there one day, being an ex-Pom its a must-do for me too. Love David Curtis work aswell...such a master of very minimal brushstrokes but as you say he hits the nail on the head with each one. His subtle tip of holding a brush in his mouth whilst painting so he doesnt have to talk to onlookers made me laugh on one of his dvds! Great video and thanks for sharing. Graham

Would really love a longer video, painting from start to finish. We missed so much seeing you form the shapes and choosing which to detail and which to ignore. But thanks for sharing this brief one at least🙏🏻🤩💜

oh lard i had a french box easel ! - great for pastel work - gave it away after switching to oil cuz it was too heavy & clunky to tote out . A quick sketch mini box-palette is a lidded plastic box + a bottle of water, 5x7" sketchbook & 4 brushes for quick grayscale acrylic sketches.

Love this video!! Your way of painting your picture and then relaxing in your chair and discussing it with us is brilliant. The best art presentation I have experienced. Your thoughts are shared as if we are there with you chatting and not you trying to do both at once. I know you can, of course! but this is a lovely time shared with you. Thank you, Colley! 😊❤️

Do you always paint on panel, instead of canvas?
@colleywhissonartist15 күн бұрын
I use canvas sheets when travelling, primarily because of their light weight, however I do prefer a melamine backed hardboard.

I love paintings like this that suggest things without giving the viewer everything. The way you have done the Windmill blades is so nice and for any beginner you don't need to put every detail in as our brain can fill it in.

Great production quality on that intro! I lived in Paris for a few years, and D'Orsay was one of my favourite museums. I came across the Rosa Bonheur "Labourage nivernais" painting on my first visit around 2007. I had no idea who they were at the time, but I spent a lot of time in front of the painting! It's really something.

The composition with the boats in foreground and the tower in the background was more dynamic imo.
