You are wasting our time when you share such videos half heartedly wherein you don't CLEARLY SHOW DETAILS like what is the bubbly solution you soak the orchid in, and such !

How is this a rehab video? It's just potting it up. It's a beautiful plant and a beautiful video but a waste of time for people looking for a rehab video.
@plantplease
@plantplease 4 ай бұрын
This plant has minimal roots and perlite is not a permanent substrate for it. Keeping the plant in perlite with water was solely to promote new roots before repotting it to the right medium. That's why this is a rehab video and you could use moss too for this! 🙂

I agree this is not the permanent substrate for this plant, using perlite was to promote new root growth. I have a separate repotting video talking about the right potting medium. 🙂

Would this work with chicken fence which is metal? Is the drawer liner sturdy enough?
@plantplease
@plantplease 6 ай бұрын
Yes, it would. The liner can help retain moisture for a longer time.

You can try air layering it and after roots are developed, cut it from the mother plant, let the wound dry up a bit then repot. The remaining piece with grow new leaves, and you have 2 plants🙂. Here is a video for air layering kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGKsfIuOna1qmNEsi=QTtYn-iIyK0NCFPF

I so much prefer the galvanised watering cans & not the powder coated ones,I guess Haws had to move with the times & expand their range to keep up with their competitors & with hold their reputation for quality.

What was it's original mix? Was it all Perlite? It was doing well in the beginning. Why suddenly you decided to switch to aroid mix? I'm still a beginner.
@plantplease
@plantplease Жыл бұрын
It lost most of its roots during shipping. I used perlite to help regenerate its roots. But after all perlite is not a sustainable mix so once it had enough roots I transferred to the current mix where it can hold water and nutrients. Hope this helps 😄

Awesome repot. Would your medium be considered soiless?
@plantplease
@plantplease Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah, not the traditional concept of dirt and compost. Coconut coir takes charge of retaining moisture, and the rest was to add more air bubbles around the roots.

How often did you water in perlite? I'm trying to rehab a.luxurians received with mostly rotten roots. I cut the rotting roots and put it into perlite. How often do you add water to encourage roots? Thanks
@plantplease
@plantplease Жыл бұрын
If you place the planter on a shallow tray and not much root left on the plant, feel free to keep the tray filled with water all the time. Rule of thumb is to not let root touching water directly. Hope this helps ☺️
